The game takes place in the eve of the Seven Hour War. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. In his journey he will find what has happened to the world, moments before the Seven Hour War.
Im guessing this was made with an external program like Terrain Generator? Thats not a bad thing, looks good! :D the ground texture is blurry though
no, everything was made in hammer.
and yes, terrain generator is a bad thing. it creates things that batch hates to compile, and it's overall horrible to edit your displacements later. i've used it once, never again.
Wwwwheelll then
could i get this as a background my resolution is 1440x900, pm me
i want to tell you guys that this map WILL make it to the chapter, except in the chapter it will have a few structures since you'll be fighting one hell of a huge creature in it. after you've killed the creature you'll be free to explore the wastelands as far as they extend. so no, this is NOT the final version of the map, this is nothing even close to the final version of the map.
also remember that i didn't include any structures on this screenshot yet, i just found it really pretty and wanted to show it to you guys.
now, if you want, use this page as a suggestion page on what you'd like to see on a really open wastelands map.
So it is taller then an Antlion Guard, Strider or larger? Just trying to narrow it down.
a bit taller than the strider. and before someone asks, we're not just dreaming of it, it's already being coded.
I can only fathom a guess for it being the Antlion King, as it's probably the largest creature that can be taken down with normal weapons.
it won't be taken down with normal weapons.
So that means Shephard will be calling in heavy artillery. Really wouldn't want to face something that large without a Super Cobra or Harrier Jump Jet as back up.
heh. i guess you'll have to wait and see.
"one hell of a huge creature" can't wait until/if you guys reveal it
Is it the Gene Worm? Because the Gene worm (I think) is taller than a strider and it can't be destroyed by normal weapons and it's huge.
nope, not the gene worm. i really don't want to spoil it to you guys.
(buried)
is it a gargantua? its taller than strider.
The gargantua measures 2 humans tall, whereas the strider measures about 4-5 humans tall.
The strider is obviously taller than the gargantua.
Open world map? AWESOME? Really? Source doesn't have the size capability, or optimization for huge displacements. Can't wait to see it in-game.
im having trouble identifying the proportions of the cliffs. how many units tall is it? it looks really weird.
Suggestions...how about a sandy barely noticeable desert road with rotting utility poles stretching alongside it? no cars, no junk. just sand.
and some cactus.
they're pretty damn big. there are two trucks in the distance, compare that to the mountains.
This must be a spot on the Earth where Borderlands and Half Life 2 cross over into the same dimension! That explains the submarine, the ... stuff..., and the fact that you have to fight the Rakk Hive here. Damn, I wonder how Adrian will kill that thing without exploding bullets?
what rakk hive this isn't borderlands
Crysis, what the hell are you talking about? <8s
No... guys. Come on now, he figured us out. I'm already working on the news article for the real game "Opposing Boards Land Forces"
Are you mentally slow?
Nice textures.. :D and sky
Cool, I love this wild west feel.
reminds me of Fall out New Vegas
stunning skybox =) rest is just awesome x)
You could improve the surface when the ground changes to the cliff displacement, currently it's just too well defined.
So we will fight the Giant Stay Puft Marshmallow Man on a wasteland map? Great.
Looks amazing!
You guys are pushing the engine to the limit, Excellent work!
This is incredible!
I think I detect a distinct grid pattern in the shrubs. This probably won't be as noticeable in the first person while marching through it, though.
there isn't a grid pattern on the shrubs at all.
Aren't there too much clouds? And where are the cloud's shadows? But the map is amazing!
no, not really. deserts can have even more clouds than that. and there aren't shadows yet since i'll have to make a big nodraw brush over the (more or less) where the clouds would be.
Are you going to add a road, or some utility poles, like zonbie said? It sounds like a fantastic idea.
yep.
cool.
This map has one of the best looking terrain textures in the HL series. Is this map still WIP?
read the postsssssss
tldr yes
Open world. Holy crap. This is awesome.
Heh I know its not final but if you slapped on a high rez sand texture this could easily pass for final.
my bad, mixed it with something else...
Would it be possible to code some rolling tumbleweeds ? I think that may be a nice touch !
you'll see those in the mining town.
Is the creature the pitworm from the first op4?
I love this Skyline 8D
