The game takes place in the eve of the Seven Hour War. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. In his journey he will find what has happened to the world, moments before the Seven Hour War.
Seriously, you're killing me with how awsome you guys are making this mod.
wait, so they citadel arrived to earth like a drop pod?
taken from raising the bar:
"entire blocks from City 17 vanished into thin air as the Combine delivered the Citadel to Earth."
so yes, it came either from a portal, or was brought from space and dropped into earth. it's safer to assume it came from a portal because as far as we know so did all the combine, so we chose that.
is it just a sky box event or is the going to be like massive clouds of dust and stuff when its dropped
there'll be a dramatic shockwave of dust (we're thinking of making the vehicles fly away), color correction change and some other effects.
most of it will happen in the skybox but the flying vehicles and part of the shockwave happens in the play area.
it would be really cool if after it dropped you had to fight your way around in a cloud of dust like at the end of the battle in star wars episode 2 (if you have seen it of course)
sounds cool, i'll see if i add that.
im glad i could help :)
I think having loads of smoke sprites would drastically lower the frame rates. Our particle dude Ghor will probably make a particle for it.
(buried)
Ever play gmod a smoke cload would just be like the fog setting in gmod.
The scene could use some cinematic physics as well. Maybe a car smashin a building wall or a building toppling over, opening up a detour for you to move.
That's a good idea.
Yeah, there's a lot of potential to implement cinematic physics here. Cars flying, trees falling, building crumbling, etc.
Never enough cinematic physics. just when you thought you have enough of it, BAM more cinematic physics.
If I may so as to add to the train of ideas here,
Why not script some npc casualties. Like in hl1 where a half dead guy warns you about the tentacles. I was thinking that would add a bit more intensity and realism to the game. I'm thinking along the lines of a guy who is covered in blood from the waist down and is crawling to you when you reach a scripted waypoint. (Man, does it make me a bad guy to suggest such things? Asking for in-depth suffering npcs?)
Not at all! Npcs deserve to suffer for their human masters anyway :D
Seriously?
Dust cloud action does sound cool, but it might cause alot of lagging.
Always wanted to see the Citadel fall into C17, this is gonna be awesome.
Me too !
Even tho it's not C17 :P
Looks good overall.
But don't you think the map atmosphere should be a bit yellow to fit Citadel's effects? And the fog layer at the bottom of The Citadel, it should be slighty grey.
we're getting a skybox specially for this scene. the part where the citadel's falling is almost red. we're also gonna work more on the color correction for this part.
i always pictures huge spikes or monumental drill bits at the bottom of the citadels
So... many... media... can't... resist... must fap... for... the... awesomeness!
Such a huge spoiler :'(
... but i was expected the Citadel there.
we were going to keep it for the trailer. but we had a few problems with releasing it today so we just decided to show it.
F..ing cool :D Its like a giant drop pod, I feel sorry for the poor bugger standing under that.. hell the entire city district :P
When I read this in my updates box, I never thought it'd LITERALLY be falling. I thought you meant it would be destroyed...this is far more amazing.
Also, I always imagined that a base fell, and it turned into a citadel in a couple of minutes - transformers style. I don't think raising the bar ever said that it COULDN'T be that way. Anyways, this is still amazing. I wish we could move buildings like that. I'd be able to have vacations anywhere I want for FREE.
The Citadel transforming- even if only with a few sections connecting and expanding- would be goddamn awesome. Not that this isn't already, but that would just take it up another notch.
WOW THAT IS ..... the least to say it's cool
looks like ****
AWESOME **** :D
So,this place is City 17? Does the mod takes place in Arizona?
The mise en scene is a fictional city in Arizona called "Rookstad".
amazing!
is that actually ingame? o.o
Yeah it's in-game.
woah
There is no such a word to describe how beautiful it is...
(buried)
This is almost as good as sex.
I would certainly say its better
This is awsome, but something that might be cool to, is if there is a flash of light comeing from the portal, then you see the citadel taking form in some cool electric looking way.
OMG! Awesome!!!
Cool Mod :3
Really good work. I love all the colors.
The mod never fails to amuse...
Is the building at the top-left bottom of the picture attracted by the Portal ? It would be awesome if the Portal would act like a storm and cut all buildings in pieces in the sector, like during a hurricane !
Ow GAWD this look spectacular.
Holy shiiiii
Realy cool, especially citadel model
Ohhh, It's coming OUT of the portal. I thought God got ****** at the Combine and was throwing it back to their ****** dimension xD
It should go underground a bit instead of just landing on the ground (If it doesn't already) because in Episode One it showed that the Citadel had huge under ground areas. Though maybe it lands on the ground and they build downwards? I don't know, maybe I'm just overthinking :P
