The game takes place in the eve of the Seven Hour War. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. In his journey he will find what has happened to the world, moments before the Seven Hour War.

I agree, he might look better with some wear and tear. Then again, its a WIP, so I can't really judge yet.
he doesn't have a detail map applied, which is why he has a clean look compared to the hunter. and it's not "shine", it's iridescence, it's a surface property, beetles have that, butterflies have that, and most notably seen in half-life, the combine hunter.
PLUS i forgot to mention this one's a sort of "elite" soldier. the other one will look a bit more like the STRIDER.
Ah I see, well in that case I still think that its iridescence could be toned down a bit. Though it makes a lot more sense to me now seeing as he's an elite soldier.

I'm with the Walrus ( above ), but then again, I like everything to show some environmental " weathering " - so to speak. Different skins will also give quite a bit of creative flexibility, which I can appreciate.
I would have liked to see a version with the more "vanilla HL2" synth look with the beige matte.... alloy....
Plus then you could add those badass combine symbols on them and they'd show.
