Operation: Black Mesa is a total Source remake of Half Life: Opposing Force. Using the Source engine, the developers plan to recreate the Black Mesa research Facility as it was seen by Corporal Adrian Shephard of the H.E.C.U. Half-life: Opposing Force is still an amazing game, although it is not nearly as amazing as it was when it was released.
Here you see some of the stuff already released in action as Shephard makes his way through a small portion of the map 'The Package' with his trusted sniper rifle and his increasingly necessary Nightvision goggles.
It's a quick sneak peak into what we've been working on.

Well, love the night vision, hate the Half life 2 vortigaunt model.. I know its still early, but you guys should consider changing it to make it look more HL1-ish..
I don't think we'll do much about the model, but we'll definately give it a new set of animations to match a different behavior than what was necessary for the vort to use in Half Life 2 :)

ok ok , there is one thing you have to do, HL2 have a unuesed slave model in its files, it is the HL2 vortigaunt with the green shackles
please use this instead of the default?!?!
Yes use the hl2 slave model rather than the ep2 frog model XD

actually it is used if u have half life 2 start a new game at the FIRST chapter then get off the train look to the right you will see a slave vortagaunt sweeping

Pretty nice. I think the main problem with the Vort is that it moves too slow. It also does need HL1-style animations and the shackles too to show it's a slave.
Yes we havn't tweaked the run speeds yet but i think that will deffinitly be modified :)

Cool idea and looks good so far. This is heavy WiP right? Because I would expect far less HL2 props in the final release, though I imagine that's a long way off.
I hope that rifle is WiP too by the way, because it was pretty shockingly bad!

The usual... Lots of complaints and absolutely no constructive criticism or suggestions of how to change it ...
Okay well here's some constructive criticism:
The texture is terrible. Very low-res and almost entirely one colour. The scope shows no reflections. The origins of the weapon on screen are poor and out dated, it needs to be higher up and more central.
You are right. They should look at the Opposing Force model.
His hands need to be beefier, and I suggest using the splinter-cell/COD4 night vision goggles turn-on noise. The ones in the video do not sound good.

A sniper rifle in CQB? What was he thinking? Anyway, I don't have HL: Opposing Force, so if they use it in that, I'll gladly be quiet. Also, it may not be very important, but NVGs need to be a circle(meaning a green circle with the rest dark) to be more realistic. But, I will say it again, if it's like that in the original game, and you want to make it as similar as possible, that's your call. Anyway, looks really great, and very, very excellent mapping. I look forward to play this, and I will be watching this mod.

Actually, you dont take orders from anyone cuz in Half-life theres a radio when they start bombing saying "Forget about Freeman, we are pulling out. Anyone left behind is now on theyre own" and that happends really early in opposing force!
Can't wait for the next ingame footage! It's pretty amasing to compare how it looked in late 2008, to how it looks now =)
could you please change the walking animation for the gun or somenthing, it looks like a robot walking with that sniper, so yea , why cant you use the half life 2 style or somenthing, that the weapons moves (QUITE ALOT) every time you turn and stuff, just sayin...
Remmember watching this as a kid.
