MP Risk 2.0

A gametype modifier that restricts combat build options to frigate and larger ships. Its intent is to encourage large, long duration strategic fleet battles.

Early-game production lag due to the increased costs of capship research and construction has been compensated for by increasing the default RU modifier and expanding the resourcer unit caps.

Additional starting fleet options have been added to make shorter games possible. You can start with the standard MS/carrier or altenately you can go with 2 MS's, MS & shipyard, or 2 carriers.

This release also contains a custom map made by Starfisher, designed especially for this mod. It is a symmetric, 4 player map named (appropriately enough) Symmetry. This mod will also play on any standard deathmatch map.

The mod is packaged as a .grm1 compiled archive.To play, just download it into your "..homeworld2 bin gamerules " directory, and select "MP Risk 2.0" from the gametype dropdown box (where you normally see "Deathmatch") when starting a new game in skirmish or multiplayer.

I played HW 2 for the caps..never been a fighter fan and gunships bored me...you never get time to build a real single player cap force in mp...such a great mod!

Might I suggest you find stronger opponents then? If your enemy gives you enough time to build 4 BC's then he deserves what he gets.

You'd be lucky to even get one BC out vs a strong player.

Don't underestimate games without strike craft. Frigate and destroyer tactics take on a whole new role without bombers and corvs in the game.

O bloody hell :P

The only thing that stood me in the way to just crush the enemy with 4/5 battlecruisers, was the enemy's strikecraftfleet. The bombers made me producing flak frigs and stuff.

NOw that there is no more strike craft, it will be an easy game to win..

great mod, this mod is for playing againest CPUs when you've got free time. the best thing i find about this mod is that for me, like to build an armada of huge battle ships and then crash the enemy!!

just one problem, the CPU doesn't seem to play as good as with strike crafts........

but overall, i am impressed ;)
