A large-scale graphical and gameplay overhaul of Jedi Academy. Medium of Darkness features brand new content including alterations to weapons, powers and even movement mechanics. Medium of Darkness began as solely a graphical mod, however has since become a testbed for developing new coding skills. MoD will eventually be broken down and divided into a series of gameplay altering mods, each with unique content. The non-gameplay altering sections will also be released separately so that players can experience the graphical changes with JKA's gameplay. Medium of Darkness will be divided into two major sections: One set inside the Star Wars universe, and one with a fantasy theme. Each section will contain different sets of content from MoD.

Description

This image shows two features, the Teleportation ability and early work on improved widescreen functionality.

Teleportation is an ability available to Destroyers and Assassins in the Star Wars section, and may be utilised within the fantasy part as well. Teleporting is intuitive; the player instantly disappears and reemerges wherever they point the crosshair, up to a maximum distance of about 25 metres.

In Base JKA, you can set a custom display resolution via console commands. However, 2D UI elements such as menus and the HUD are constrained to a 4:3 ratio, and simply stretch when playing in widescreen. Medium of Darkness allows you to use any widescreen resolution you like, and adjusts the size of the UI appropriately. Menus, the HUD and the crosshair will all retain the correct proportions regardless of the resolution used. So far only the crosshair and the HUD background are affected, but soon this change will affect every UI element.

This screenshot shows a 16:10 Widescreen aspect ratio, with size correction applied to some components.
