The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.

- Module Constructor, a civilian frigate equipped with many assembly tools used to build structures in orbit around the planet.
- Refinery Ship, a transport frigate that gets hard to acquire resources from asteroids to then be refined.
- Trade Ship, a commercial frigate that carries merchant cargo between distant worlds.

I will miss the BSG ones, but their replacements look great.
