The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.

For the upcoming Release (issue 2) of Maelstrom
A massive and sustained war was once fought for this once rich and beautiful planet. Now only remnants remain.
Woah! This looks like Redstone foram StarCraft 2! I'm loving these new planets!
The volcanic fires are particle effects. Part of the planets is blown away and there is a lot of floating debris in orbit.

Not sure if you can change planet meshes on the fly.
would be awesome though, a planet explodes and debris are blown every where MASSIVE AWESOME everywhere
