S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha - Developer's Cut Announcement
Some people already buried our project, but we are still working on our dream game, Lost Alpha. The progress is in fact not faster than before, since after the unexpected issues in April, our team became smaller, but stronger than ever. We got all the good and bad since the early-access release, many people simply did not understand they are playing a work in progress game. Slowly during the months it became more and more stable, but stability is not equal to readyness. While we were working on the 4th patch - namely 1.3004 -, it became more and more clear we need to release the developers cut, because the content we were planning was simply bigger than a patch, besides the early-access release contained many junk, which we planned to wipe out to make the game more polished and organized, which is good for modders too. Do not worry, we won't remove the nearly 100 developer test levels left in the game.
What do we plan to add? More life to the Zone, earlier unlocked freeroam for npcs, less empty places on huge levels, rewised weapons and trading system, rewised atmospheric ukrainian weather (over 50 authentic skyboxes captured in Ukraine) and HD textures addon for buildings and for vegetation (optional), rewised render modes and shaders (r1,r2 and r3) and fixes in wetsurface and detailbump just to mention some, better sound environments, sound engine fixes, all in stalker style, as we all like. In top of that, the upcoming 1.3004 content and all previous patch content will be included in the Developers Cut. To keep it short, here is the link to the changeslog we constantly update, so it's better to check it regularly. We plan to release the Developer's Cut as a big update, we also have in plans to re-release the whole game with all the patches and the DC applied on it. On top of that we are working on the 'gift' for our donators which we promised. Don't want to spoil much about that, but it will be around 9-10gb big unpacked, and will contain many goodies. More news to be posted soon!
We are actually glad we could make the game much better already than it was half a year ago, and we really thank to You all for the support. We got hundreds if not thoudands of positive and constructive comments, also we had our own vision, and tried to mix that with the requests of our active fanbase. We are also glad that ModDB staff helped us to keep the page alive and clean :)

OMG! Yes!
Brilliant, we are waiting
Nice, now i am curious what 9-10gb file will be filling my hard drive.
Not that bad, many games like Wolfenstein New order and Doom 2016 weight over 50gb each game.
Sounds great. More life is exactly that what the LA zone needs.
One request: Please please please add an option to skip cutscenes.
Nonetheless this is awesome! I can't wait to see what you guys can come up with. I'll keep an eye on that changelog :)
YES!!!
thank you thank you thank you~~~
donated full retail price ages ago...
worth every cent for another S.T.A.L.K.E.R :)
anxious to see final work and donator's content!
This news is fantastic.
But honestly, I would love an overhaul of the Labs. The constant visions, voice acting and odd triggers totally ruins the immersion for me. Like full on dead.
Just make it creepy with subtle triggers.
Project burried? Nonsence. I for one stopped playing because of the patience i feel this game deserves. I heard since the last patch 1.3003 the game play pretty well and is pretty stable, that's wonderful news. I'll be patient even more, and wait till your work reaches that stage you people wanted from the start. It's something that fans needs to respect, judging by all the problems the project sadly had to start off earlier. But i have high hopes, and altough i miss playing Stalker, i bet the waiting will be really worth it sometime in the future, it's just a matter of patience. Just rock on guys, the project needs to go further! I'll start playing with joy once again, when i'll see mod overhauls rolling out for Lost Alpha. This is a matter of patience again, i guess. It all depents on the state of work you wonderful people put into Lost Alpha. Good Work!
moty confirmed
The Lost Alpha need a awesome machine to run, this version will be more expensive, surely.
It runs on my pretty old notebook... it's an "awsome machine" ;)
¿Really? ¿what specs have you notebook?

Sounds sweet.
Fantastic, I've only dabled in Lost Alpha, I didn't want to play a game that was your half-finished vision, I felt it was an injustice to you as developers and myself as a STALKER :P
I'm glad I donated, I hope you guys realise your vision.
- disabled the strange cutscene on Swamp on request
Please tell me thats the Illuminati scene after you pass out in Doc's house! If so, the greatness of this game just tripled.
As to what Amez said, I agree. There needs to be an option to disable most of the cutscenes. A lot of scenes can be done better by simply just leaving the player and his camera in full control. It's more immersive when theres a scene, and you can actually still walk around in first person, while you and other characters speak. And most if not all the cutscenes in the first lab you go to are pointless.
Use the computer feature more. It's hardly used and it can really help things. For the lab scenes, you can just have everything written down on that computer that you can download, or maybe have recordings or maybe even a movie of that cutscene, in place of where a security camera would be. Now that would really be awesome. Hey, it's better than what's currently there. It's a pain in the *** having to make realistic animations for complex scenes, and also good voice actors. You can save yourself so much trouble and make the game look better by simply utilizing the computer feature more.
For example, the scene in the first lab where the two Sin guys get gassed and turn into bloodsuckers, this is how I would fix it up. I'd take the recordings of the scientists, cut them up a little, apply a radio filter and other things to hide the bad voice acting, and make it into a short 1 and a half minute sound clip on the computer. At the end you can have them screaming, and the guard firing, and then have it cut to silence. Then on the computer, have a gallery of pictures that show the scientists bloodied bodies, and also one of the bloodsuckers bodies too, and have a report file detailing what happened. There is enough optional information there for the player to piece together what happened in this room, and whats best about it, is that the player does it at his/her leisure. Theres no forcing them through a 5 minute cutscene with bad animations and bad voice acting, which kills immersion completley.
And there, you've turned an embarresing, overly complex, immersion breaking cutscene into a simple source of information that the player can choose to view whenever he/she wants. Immersion is reinforced, the story is portrayed, and the player can continue exploring the lab without thinking afterwards "What the **** did I just watch?", but instead thinking "Damn, this place is hostile and the scientists here had no idea what they were doing!"
Yes.., Yes..., YES!!
(buried)
Nay m8, you can't dissapoint people more than you already did. Unless next patch will come out after 6 years. <post scheduled for deleting>
just buried.
Will be in DC wisible legs?etc hand in car? and 1 more there supossed to be a rpg system to upgrade character you working on it or it is buried?
Good stuff but no fixes for the AI that doesn't realize that you just put a bullet into their chest, or the really unprofessional writing/storytelling?
AI is being updated constantly with every patch, just forgot to include it in the log. thx for pointing on it
Great :)
make it support DirectX 11!)))
Metro will nervously smoke in this case
+ if u also want to see LA on r4
r4 is just a tesselation, in CoP it was hardly noticeable...
NICE NICE NICE! That's why I've never ever had played LA before :-)
Damn thats a really nice present you got there up your sleeves Dez & Team! Thanks for still working on your dream project after the disaster that occured in april. Happy holidays :)
Hi Devs,
First of all I appreciate all the hardwork you've put into this standalone mod. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC remains my favourite game of all time (one of the few I've bothered to struggle through to the end).
However I have put S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha "somewhat" on the shelf. I find it really hard to play the game with adequate alife stuff floating about the zone. For example I really miss the packs of wild dogs. It's lacking that immersion X-factor and random danger... I do also desperately need a new GPU (that new 2540x1440 display is a GPU killer as well)!!
Really looking forward to version 1.3004. Hoping the alife issue will be addressed. But I would gladly wait another decade for a game with the polish required and demanded of the series!
I am the maintainer of the WineHQ AppDB page for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha. FYI the mod runs OK on a Linux Desktop (in DirectX 9.0c mode)... I've put in quite detailed instructions to help new users install the mod - since there is no "official installer".

This was and continues to remain the best Stalker mod of all time as well as a creative masterpiece that captures the atmosphere of The Zone and takes it to levels GSC could only imagine. I am and will continue to remain onboard 100% of the way and wish the Dezowave team the best of luck in the development cycle. I know you won't let me down, boys!
I'm your fan, Lost alpha fan and Stalker fan, I never thank you enough.
Will wait for 1.3004
Merry Christmas Everyone! :D GSC is back!

Any news regarding the release of DC now?
Hello Dezowave.
I just wanted to mention that you are keeping a piece of my childhood alive, keeping S.T.A.L.K.E.R ALIVE! I am forever grateful for your deeds.
And please, give us some information on your progress. I just really want to see the project prosper.
Lots of love.
I'd love to have actually playable dx10. You know, a one that doesn't require to use flashlight in shadowed areas in the middle of a day.
you can finetune that for your liking in console. r2_sun_lumscale_amb <value here>. By default its 0.3, it should be pretty washedoutbright on 1.0, so you can play with the values. :)

Anyone know which will be the patch 1.3004? Around? March? April? May?...
i realy love the STALKER with the new aim animations
and if they add the ammo tracers too it will be soo cooll
OMG, I was one of the players who quit playing Lost Alpha, due to many issues that will be adressed on this new version, so yes, I'll probably come back to play, because damn, I really miss those maps, they're awesome, they urgently need more lore/quests...
in the mean time, you can just use the spawn menu to add mutants and people
Mutants and people are not the problem, but lore and quests are
Hi! I was playing all Stalker series (SoC, Clear Sky, CoP) but I like Lost Alpha the best. I really like possibility to drive a car in this game. I like trucks. I want to ask dezowave team: will be there possibility to use KAMAZ's trunk to store some weapons, ammo, food etc ? Fuel consumption of KAMAZ in v.1.3003 is very high. There should be a bigger canister for the truck. And also it's pretty hard to drive through some places like from Great Metal Factory to Yantar (too narrow places to drive through). Kamaz should be more resistant from mutants attacks. One more question. Will be there some another truck for example Ural military truck ? I really love truck. I can't help myself. If there be the that URAL truck ready for driving it would be awesome.

Why not just extract the files and tweak them yourself? You can make them invulnerable to mutant attacks if you want. (as solid steel trucks should be, lol) you can also edit fuel consumption and engine power, among many other things. as far as driving through some places being difficult, thats why you drive a UAZ/jeep. it seems to have the best handling/lowest flip over possibility in the game. hope this helps
Any word on this? Already donated, just curious for an expected release date?

Do you plan to improve car handling? I'm at Dark Valley, trying to drive the car towards Darkscape, but it's really difficult. The car stops at very low obstacles, and overturns or explodes very easily. Really cool to feature cars though, but they are *hard* to drive...
car in countryside is better, use it
