After a solid year or so of development and testing, Lethal Stigma is now available to the public for immediate download as a public beta, v0.1.1. You can obtain it via ModDB or any of the mirrors listed on our website's Download page.
For those of you who have not been following the mod's development, allow me to briefly explain Lethal Stigma and in turn emphasize what sets it apart from other modifications:
Lethal Stigma is a multiplayer role-playing first-person shooter for the Source engine. It takes place in the Half-Life 2 universe and combines elements from games like HL2DM, HL2:CTF and TF2 into a single fast-paced and action-packed modification. The mod currently has four different gamemodes: Team Elimination, Free for All, Capture the Flag, and Outbreak. Each has a unique twist you won't find in any other game. There's an experience, leveling and upgrade system that allows you to improve your arsenal and obtain powerful new abilities as you play. Your progress is frequently saved automatically on a server-by-server basis, you have full control over what upgrades you'd like to purchase and you can swap out upgrades anytime. In addition to these systems, there's also a class system; choose between the Tank, Assault, Sniper, Engineer, and Medic, each of which has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Because the modification was in its testing stages for several months, we think you'll find its gameplay is very balanced and that it is very stable for a first release.
Of course there's a whole lot of other stuff to talk about, but I promised to keep my description brief, so if you're interested and want to learn more, check out our ModDB page or the About page on our website for more information.
Anyhow, six servers are already online thanks to the Convict Gaming community. If you are interested in hosting your own dedicated Lethal Stigma server, hop on over to our tutorials section here on ModDB for complete explanations on setting up both Linux and Windows servers. Yes, that's right, LS supports Linux too! A mapping tutorial can also be found in that section if you have experience using Hammer and Source SDK.
