There really isn't much to this article besides a list of the old units that are finally getting cut from the mod. This is something that is long overdue. I have prepared a list of units which will be having their status in the mod changed. Prepare to hold back tears as you wave goodbye to the past....

Imperial Units:

  • Tartan & Lancer Cruisers: removed completely
  • TIE Fighter, Interceptor, Bomber: common local defense forces only
  • TIE Scout, Defender, Phantom: removed completely
  • Scimitar Bomber: removed completely
  • Nebulon-B: uncommon pirate and local defense forces only
  • Victory Star Destroyer: uncommon local defense forces only
  • Immobilizer 418: removed completely
  • Vindicator Cruiser: removed partially
  • Imperial I Star Destroyer: rare local defense forces only
  • Imperial II Star Destroyer: removed completely
  • Interdictor Star Destroyer: removed completely

Alliance Units:

  • CR90 Corvette: common pirate/local defense forces only
  • DP20 Gunship: less common pirate/local defense forces only
  • X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing: less common pirate/local defense forces only
  • E-Wing, K-Wing: removed completely
  • Nebulon-B: uncommon pirate and local defense forces only
  • Alliance Assault Frigate: removed completely
  • MC30 Frigate: removed completely
  • CC7700: removed completely
  • MC80 Liberty and Home One types: rare local defense forces only
  • Defender/Nebula and Republic Star Destroyers:removed completely
So basically, every unit from the Galactic Civil War era or earlier is removed in one way or another from your access. The only ones that will remain in the game will be seen in pirate and local defense forces only. If there is a unit that I forgot to include, it is safe to assume it has been cut as well. It might seem like a lot is being cut from the mod, and yes that's the point. This decision is final because I can't keep going back and forth with something this major.

For some of you it could take some time to get accustomed to, but I realize that I never really should have added most of these ships in the first place. Now your build bar will have space for other more important things. There is a possibility that the files for these units will be left in the mod when the next release is added-when this happens you can feel free to add back whatever units you want, but I will not be providing support for any modification of the mod.



Desktop a Day


Looking ahead, here are a few things that you can expect soon. First off, I will be doing a "Desktop a Day" next week-as the name implies, I will be uploading a wallpaper to be used for desktop backgrounds, once a day (or maybe more if I feel generous :P ). I will start this today and end it on Friday, because I will be going away on vacation for a week from August 3rd to August 10th. Additionally, I will be uploading a particle pack either the week before I leave or the week I get back. It will contain some engine glows, new projectiles, and such. It will only be an add-on-a modders' resource-and thus I will not be providing instructions on how to add it to the game or other mods. I leave you with the first entry in the "Desktop a Day" series, and hope you enjoyed reading this give-and-take article.

I dont like this decision for Defender/Nebula Star Destroyers you could keep them in local defense forces with new fighter/bombers
but I agree with this decision:

"when this happens you can feel free to add back whatever units you want, but I will not be providing support for any modification of the mod."

can you put in mod those ships maybe for local defense forces:
Bellator-class Star Battlecruiser,
Allegiance-class Heavy Star Destroyer,

As stated these decisions are final, but why would I add back the Defender/Nebula and Republic Star Destroyers anyway? They had limited production and there were nowhere near as many of them as there were of the Imperial I SD. Whatever small amount of them survived the Vong War surely were destroyed by the Legacy Era, seeing how they are never even mentioned after the Vong War.
The same goes for the Bellator and Allegiance, they were not produced in massive numbers so there is no reason to include such old units as they are most certainly long gone. I may add more Corellian ships since they are not canon, but there isn't much else.

Well I like read abouth military strategies.
Principles in military strategists:
- Objective (Direct every military operation towards a clearly defined, decisive, and attainable objective)
- Offensive (Seize, retain, and exploit the initiative)
- Mass (Concentrate combat power at the decisive place and time)
- Economy of Force (Allocate minimum essential combat power to secondary efforts)
- Maneuver (Place the enemy in a disadvantageous position through the flexible application of combat power)
- Unity of Command (For every objective, ensure unity of effort under one responsible commander)
- Security (Never permit the enemy to acquire an unexpected advantage)
- Surprise (Strike the enemy at a time, at a place, or in a manner for which he is unprepared)
- Simplicity (Prepare clear, uncomplicated plans and clear, concise orders to ensure thorough understanding)

I particularly emphasize "mass", in star wars you mast have ships for massing for this is good new and cheap ships but with low or medium strength (for this is good only ardent, sabretooth and shashore) or old and cheap ships but medium or high strength (I don’t know any ship for this) or droid ships (you don’t need old CIS ships, you can made droid factory/shipyard for ships which don’t use live crew this can be interesting for mandalorians and hutts).

For droids, you want tell me that so strong army did not have some new ships in plans for building but because end of war those ships did not even started to build, for this you have tons of possibilities you just must to fantasize about it

But ok you are creator of mod it is on you to made it how you see legacy era, it is obviously that I have different look of this era ;) (so I only maybe can give some idea)

You say droid ships, but do you mean those used by the CIS? I've rarely seen any other droid navies/armies besides the CIS. When it comes to the Empire and Alliance I don't like to stray too far from the comics' storyline and put in old ships if they don't belong there; however there is room to add new ship designs, which is what I have been doing for some time. If more units are added they would be new, uncanon designs, and not the old ones.

no I dont think on old cis ships, I have this in mind, for example:
in beginning mandalorians build kedable battleship after some time hero can bay tehnology (droid factory/shipyard) and than mandalorians can build kedable battleship but this new one have droid crew and because that ship is little cheaper and dont use pop caps so mandalorians now can build more kedables than before
this is great for mandalorians and hutts and in fact this is great for everyone

clons need more room in ships they need eat, sleep, go in toilet, they can get tired... but droids only need computers and energy so they are better option for ship crew

I do agree with him, the point of the mod was to portray the legacy era...?

I must ask about the Venator though - it was used as a "merchant trader" - will it retain this role, become a frigate, or disappear?

Keep the Venators, they are good helpers in gc at the beginning to help u gain credits....

The ISD 1 had about 25,000 built but the ISD 2 was not nearly as numerous, and was only a retrofit of pre-existing ISD 1's. This is one case where I may change mind on this though, but it would be the only one.

While i personally would prefer most of these units to stay in, i appreciate that this is a legacy era mod. That said, i would appreciate it if you would leave the files in and perhaps just have <Build_Tab_Space_Units> set to No, or perhaps set the <Tech_Level> to 6, either of which can be changed by players. Not that i personally would bring back all the units, but someone else might. But hey, its your mod. I will download it either way. Just my personal opinions here.

Palleon vs ISD-I does not look very good. So if you've done the cut, bring the power on. If Palleon SD had been so powerful, it needs some balancing.
