Our goal is to bring into focus the Legacy Era, but more specifically the Second Imperial Civil War. Play as either the tyrannical Krayt Empire, freedom-seeking Galactic Alliance Remnant or the obscure Confederation Revenant.
I like this one a lot, I don't know why.
Maybe because it's one of my favorite engine glows I've created so far ;) .
The Restrictor is a level one frigate whose original design was a candidate to fill the role of Interdictor in the Imperial Navy, but lost out to the 418 Immobilizer. The design has been modernized for mass production by the Revenant thanks to a former Sienar Fleet Systems engineer. This craft has four plasma mortars, two towards the bow and another two towards the stern. Between them are a pair of heavy point-defense laser batteries, with an additional one located above the command deck. Its refined gravity well technology allows for two smaller projectors without the loss of efficiency. The ventral hangar is limited to holding two B734 Invader squadrons and a single Besh squadron due space being taken by systems such as the redundant shield generators, gravity well projectors, and advanced weaponry. It is more durable than the 418 Immobilizer and the CC-7700.
Uh, yes excuse me, this is a great ship and all(it really is) but I just have one issue here. It's a small one don't worry. But I was just wondering...what is a plasma mortar? I've never heard of it and it seems rather odd if I do say so myself. Keep up the great work.
This question was inevitable... I should have addressed it earlier. Basically, the mortar is an advanced version of the torpedo; it is more powerful and honestly, it looks cooler. And as the name implies, it is composed of plasma, but you already knew that.
I see. I thought it would be like a mortar used now a days, and that just stuck me as odd for space combat. Thanks for explaining it.
the ship looks awesome :D
all made up by yourself?
if not, still pretty impressive :D
model is by warb_null... ;) as the most are.. ^^
He should get some kind of award from Lucas Arts for making their game so much better. At least they should hire him.
Very correct, I can confidently say that around 50% of the new models are from Warb.
Actually the model is by Arvis Taljik. I only did the rigging on this one.
Wow, that's ironic.
Very impressed, and I have to agree: the nicest engine glow I've seen.
If a planet has a gravity well generator or a ship like this in orbit, shouldn't it prevent an enemy force from passing it in the game, things like raids and probe droids?
This may be possible with the game's engine, though I'm not quite sure if or how. It should be noted though that the raid fleets and probe droids were designed to be small enough to evaid detection and so an interdictor most likely would not detect them. Also, I don't think that interdiction vessels always had their gravity well projectors activated unless in a battle or suspecting enemy ships.
There were several arrays of Interdictors and gravity well generators that the empire had set up during the galactic civil to prevent such raids from occurring. Of course that was mostly the core worlds, but it was expanded quite often. maybe a type of long range scanner could be built to detect incoming raid fleets to be used alongside interdictors.
It would also make Interdictors a bit more useful in GC, but that's just my opinion and strategy speaking.
Hmm, I understand what you mean. I can look into seeing if it's possible to do something like this.
