Our goal is to bring into focus the Legacy Era, but more specifically the Second Imperial Civil War. Play as either the tyrannical Krayt Empire, freedom-seeking Galactic Alliance Remnant or the obscure Confederation Revenant.
These are the corvettes for the CR. The only one which will have a picture is the Quickfire since models for the others are from the original game.
(For future reference PD=Point-defense)
IPV Mk. II
Armament: 3 PD mass drivers, 4 PD laser cannon batteries
This vessel is a modified IPV, available at level 1. It is more efficient than the first version, with more accurate weaponry, but is not very durable. This ship doesn't really require much explaining.
Quickfire-class Corvette
Armament: 2 Plasma turrets, 4 PD mass drivers, 1 cluster missile launcher
The Quickfire is an internally redesigned Storm Commando Escort Carrier from the Galactic Civil War (some of you will remember seeing that in Rebel Strike). Living up to its legacy, it carries 2 squadrons of TIE Stalkers (modified TIE Hunters). It is a small ship, and not very durable and suited only for combat with other small vessels and fighters. The larg plasma turrets are its most powerful weapons, effective against frigates to buy time for it to speed away to safety. It is available at level 2, just as its TIE Stalkers are.
Iviin'yc-class Gunship
Armament: 4 PD mass drivers, 4 PD disruptor cannons, 3 plasma torpedo launchers
This is arguably the heaviest standardized corvette, and is available at level 3. The external superstructure is the same as the Crusader-class Gunship, but internally it's a whole new beast. Its weapons systems are suited for effective defense against all fighters and bombers, and can tear other corvettes to shreds. Power can diverted to engines if need be, and unlike the previous model its point-defense ability is constantly active. These things do drive up production costs, making them more expensive than the Assassin and YZ-2500 classes, and slightly slower as well-but what it lacks in speed it makes up for in firepower and durability. It also carries a squadron of Phoebos interceptors, making it very useful for a scout ship-one that you'll get back after sending out.
Please READ the description, THEN comment! Thanks.
Clarification on weapons will come, as some of you may be curious why mass drivers are being used so much and what these plasma weapons are and such, I ask for all to be patient until then.
And for anybody wondering why there will be ships from seemingly unrelated factions and such it will also be explained, I haven't had the time to develop the news article that will clear up such questions.
Looks very nice. I'd like to see this bad boy in action!
Oh, *drool* feels like the first time I played as the Zann. So loving it.
omg its that liek that escort ship from that one gamecube game!
note Cheesecake's first message and the description of the quickfire.
Wouldn't the Quickfire be a bit big for a corvette ? Or a bit small to carry two squadrons.
It's funny you mention it, I was actually concerned myself when writing so. It actually took some research to determine stats for me. Although there is no source specifically stating its size I used this video Youtube.com from 0:50 to 1:00 to determine its size as being between twice and thrice the length of the GR-95 (which is 90 meters long), and using the convos from here "http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Imperial_escort_carrier_(storm_commando)" I figure it to be about 200m or so, adn I figured it could carry this many fighters as they reasoned. But now that I think about since this is a remodel of that class it could have completely different stats...
Ehh I hope this doesn't come off as defensive or argumentative, but just stating how I came to the decisions I made.
In case anyone wanted to know, Iviin'yc is Mando'a for "fast" or "quickly".
Mandos are the Klingons of Star Wars. They even have their own language created.
