In 2008, a mod for the video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight Jedi Academy was released called Knights of the Force. It was intended as an expansion pack/total conversion for the game, offering players the ability to explore all the various maps of the game and fight against or be hundreds of characters from across the Star Wars Saga. That mod however has long since ended development, yet it has inspired us, a new mod team, to come and fulfil the goals of that original mod and bring it to a new generation of Jedi Academy players. Our goals are to let players create their own Star Wars battles, playing and fighting against numerous characters ranging from all three trilogies, Rogue One, Star Wars Rebels, and even characters from the old Legends Continuity across many maps set in the Star Wars universe. Players will be able to use hundreds of various lightsabers and weapons from the films and fight across various maps of locations from the films. We may not be the controversial creator of the original KOTF mod, TimFx, but we nonetheless hope to bring the goals of what the original mod was suppose to be in this spiritual successor/continuation of the original Knights of the Force mod. Knights of the Force is Reborn!
I hope everyone here is having a wonderful holiday season, getting to spend time with your loved ones, and getting yourself something cool for Christmas/Hanukkah. I was planning on making a video for this, but it would've taken too long, and would've ultimately have taken time away from developing this mod. Today, I'll be addressing the two most frequently asked questions we get on the discord server, here on moddb, jkhub, and occasionally my personal e-mail:
1. When is the release date?
2. Can "this character" be in the mod?
In regards to the release date, in the original FAQ, I wrote the following:
"We hope to release the mod in time for the Last Jedi's release, however, we have no confirmed release date at this time."
Unfortunately for all of us, The Last Jedi has hit theaters, and the KotF beta still remains in development. I have since changed the answer to:
"The instant we have a release date, we will let you know."
I'm not posting that as the answer simply to hide from the pressure of picking a release date. We chose that answer because we simply don't know. Believe me when I say that all of us on the team WANT you to play the mod, we want to see your feedback, know what you want us to change, include. We're all looking forward to your criticisms. We WANT you to play the mod, but the problem is, we have to provide you all with a mod that you will enjoy, with as few bugs as possible. I promise, the literal MINUTE we have a release date, we will tell you.
In regards to the common question "Can this character be in the mod?" the answer is a bit more straightforward. In the FAQ, I wrote:
"Presently we're not putting any new characters in the game. However, if you have a character AND model you'd like us to consider, please send it to either myself or Fire Phoenix."
Currently our team consists of 6 people, and none of us know have the know-how or patience to create new character models. All of the models in the mod were created by very talented individuals, all of which we owe everything to. We have only had a very small handful of modelers officially working with us, but all of them had to be let go. We don't have any modelers working for us currently, so it's currently impossible for us to create our own models.
Please, only send character requests to us if and only if you have a proper, high-quality model to show us. Otherwise, we can't consider adding the character you want. While we aren't adding any new characters for the beta, anything is possible for our future final release.
Thank you for following the development of Knights of the Force 2.1, and may the Force be with you.
