Your name is Tasha and the year is 1998. Your brother Daniel, an ex-InGen employee, has been missing for some time and your search for him has lead you to the Island of Isla Sorna off the western coast of Costa Rica. With a bit of persistence and a lot of luck, you have succeeded in procuring transportation to the notorious island. But as the foggy land mass grows larger on the horizon, you begin to wonder if you've gone in over your head...

What secrets does the thick impenetrable fog hide?


Jurassic Park: Dark Secrets is to be the first traditional Trespasser MOD. In development officially since December 2004, JPDS will feature:

  • A deep, enticing storyline
  • Interesting characters, New and Old
  • A multitude of engaging rendered cutscenes
  • An array of new dinosaurs, models, and textures
  • A massive non-linear area - there's no one way to play
  • Three intricately designed levels to explore

Jurassic Park: Dark Secrets has been in development for nearly four years and our dev. team has seen quite a few changes over time. Our current active members are:

  • Draco "Draconisaurus" (project lead, lead writer, 3D modeler, event scripter, sound design, level design, texture design, terrain design, concept artist)
  • Nem (environmental design, level design)
  • Matt "TheGuy" (technical consultant/assistant, graphic assistant, sound design)

Members who have been active in the past and have either left the project or will be returning to work later include:

  • MikeTheRaptor (creative assistant, level design, music consultant, assistant writer)
  • Mickey (original environmental design, terrain texturer)
  • Second Illiteration (sound design, animal texture design, overall design concepts, new music composer)
  • Tatu (alpha/beta tester, creative consultant)
  • Chris "DemonCarnotaur" (archaeological consultant, concept artist, story consultant, alpha tester)
  • TrikeUatra (2D graphics artist, full menu design)
  • Ryan (3D modeler, concept artist)

The JPDS Team was also fortunate enough to work closely with the undeniably talented Big Red, making recommendations for new ATX features that are to be implemented in the MOD. JPDS has not been dead, but has been making progress in small jumps (not helped by the fact that I am essentially the only one left working on it). There are some "new" screenshots uploaded to have a look at some of what's been going on. Thanks to a new daily schedule I've created, progress is becoming more regular and I anticipate much greater speed in the approach to the finish line.. I am also saving the best for the release. ;) I won't comment on WHEN the release will be until a beta is ready but I am hopful that I can get a beta version done by sometime in November. It's relevant to note that I have begun a community project concerning Trespasser at TresCom.org forums, called Trespasser: Reloaded, but I have made sure this has not taken away time from JPDS since after I got that up and running. That modding project will not get a moddb page until it's at least half ready. I also have a very secret project in concept and planning, to be looked into while beta testers have a go at JPDS and started in full after JPDS1's release...

Also for those who did not already know, the JPDS project has had some major downgrades since its start. I am now entirely unsure if and when JPDS2 and 3 will ever see the light of day - I was for a while very tempted to do them (along with a smaller JPDS1) on a DIFFERENT engine, which may still happen but seems unlikely.. and also at the least, rather far in the future. So for now, the JPDS project is simply JPDS1 - with, sadly, the entire Embryonics Administration at the end removed. It was determined some time ago that it would need to be moved into a separate level, anyway, but I've now realized what a huge thing it would be to complete and I need to get JPDS off my shoulders, after nearly 5 years in development. Since I am now still interested in modding Trespasser, I may continue it at a later date... making an additional level called "JPDS~EA". Sadly, 90% of the thickly developed JPDS storyline was to take place/be revealed inside the EA, so JPDS1 is going to be mostly about the environmental achievements (virtually 100% free-roaming), new models/textures, and some various puzzles, which will only begin slightly to delve into the plot of JPDS.

Anyone found the last key in the level of the town with Hammond´s house?
I use to make a pile of crates and jump over the close door.(thats the best point of the game,to overcome real problems you can do real solutions,try to make "noclip" in real life)

there were many funny details in level 1 such as cola vending machine in the middle of the jungle. I really love JPDS (level 1) this is a large and detailed landscape. I have almost gone over everything on the level and there were so many interesting historical stuff. I am looking forward to level 2 it's really good that there are still some who work on the new update. Good work. :-)

FarCry and Crysis's designs are heavily influenced by Jurassic Park Trespasser, a potential remake is obvious for that reason.

If you haven't noticed, Trespasser is the late 90s version of Crysis, amazing graphics, physics, sound system, but very high system requirements for the computers of it's era.

Tresspasser was also one of the first games to introduce some stuff, that is nowadays standardised: normal maps, physics manipulation (you can for example, make a pile of crates to collapse by throwing a rock toward them. the hand later inspired valve to add physics gun to HL2, when it was under development.)

So yes, Tresspasser is extremely important game in gaming history, even if it wasn´t so good. (i like it, though.)
