Introduced in 2473, the Orion-class Assault Carrier served the UNSC as its primary ground campaign support warship. Like colony support vessels such as the Phoenix-class, the Orion is fitted with internal factory modules and resource processors to sustain planetary campaigns by producing spare parts, fuel, munitions and even vehicles for the UNSC's fighting forces on the ground. To aid the Orion's duties, it possesses a number of resource gatherers to collect spaceborne strategic materials to feed into the ship processing modules, turning meteorites into munitions.

Why the decision to incorporate rounded designs in a pre-war UNSC ship design?
Has this always been the case or was this design updated? Maybe I'm just tripping.
It's not particularly more rounded than the original Fleet Battles design, but some additional definition was given to smooth out the more harsh transitions that existed. End of day, it just looked a little bit nicer having that slight curvature to compliment the already circular dome section.
