Half-Life: Decay is an add-on included in the PlayStation 2 port of the first-person shooter computer game Half-Life, developed by Gearbox Software and published in October of 2001, now being remade by independend Ukrainian developers for PC with the help of other european developers/fans.

Our team is working on straight port of this game to PC! "Decay PC"'s active development began in mid-October of 2005 and release is scheduled to be somewhere in Summer of 2008.

Like Gearbox's other expansion packs Opposing Force and Blue Shift, Decay returns to the setting and timeline of the original story, but with different player characters: two female colleagues of Gordon Freeman, Dr. Gina Cross and Dr. Colette Green, who both take part in the Anomalous Materials laboratory experiment - they make preparations for the experiment under the Test Chamber such as monitoring Anti-Mass spectrometer and delivering anomalous materials to Dr. Freeman. When disaster happens both women together with their collegues Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Keller try to save personell of the facility and reverse the resonance cascade to seal the dimensional rift.

things you should do
make another mod that is simulating the hl1 ps2 version
add that rotated square on the crosshair
make the hud a bit bigger since it was like that in the ps2 version

Can someone help me on how you get the second character to appear. When I load up the first map it's just my character, and for some reason she has a gun and a crowbar and there is no guard to open the door either.

It's seems like you're playing the map in Half-Life deathmatch. what OS do you play the mod on? The developers made this only for Windows.

Looks like it wasn't adjusted to run on the latest version of Half-Life engine available today. Bah, not even SteamPipe existed when the mod came out.
1. It doesn't create a shortcut to run the game anywhere. I assume that's because you used to be able to select a mod from the main menu yourself, but they removed it. So you need to create a shortcut to hl.exe (steam directory/steamapps/common/Half-Life/) and add the parameters: -steam -game decay
2. Mouse is screwed up. Despite m_rawinput set to 1, mouse acceleration is EXTREMELY noticable. In fact, that mouse acceleration is so bad, I'd rather play the original game on a PS2 emulator, with pads.

Will have to get myself an older version of Half-Life to run that mod properly. Leaving it here for people to know :)

Just played through some missions, it's either the mod itself being buggy, or the new version of HL1. AI tends to not work properly - eg. the security guard on the first mission not believing us we both have gone through the re-registration process. Or the security guard on the "Dampen" mission not doing anything once he's led to that scientist in a chair.
Thanks for your work either way :)

Nevermind about the second point, you can just add "-noforcemparms" to launch parameters and it will behave properly. Will playtest the mod with my brother in a few days on the latest version of HL.

The further you go in the mod, the better it becomes. It begins with simple missions and possibly some people would stop playing at the end of chapter 2 or 3. After that, not only the gameplay becomes exciting but the storyline is more interesting (although a reverse resonance cascade doesn't sound very creative). Maybe the most interesting thing about this is how it cross plots with HL Blue Shift and HL Opposing Force. Also it becomes more difficult as you get closer to the end. The end let much…
