Windows 8 can be a little tricky in finding where the A&A data folder is located which is the “Favorites/Libraries/Documents/My Documents” folder.

The best way to install this patch or any other A&A patch in Windows 8 is to go to any folder on the desk top and open it.

If there are no folders on the desk top just create a new folder.

Open that folder, on the left top just below “File” drop down you will see “Navigation Pane”.

Click on it and you open the Navigation Pane drop down.

In the drop down you will see a “Navigation Pane line item”, if it is not already checked, click on that and you will check box it.

Once you check box Navigation Pane then in the panel on the left side of the folder you will see “Favorites Folder” appear in the tree.

Open that folder and then you will see the “Libraries Folder” appear in the Favorites Folder tree.

Click on the “Libraries Folder” to open it.

In the Libraries Folder tree you will see “Documents” click on it and open it.

In the Documents folder you will see “My Documents” click on it an open it, this is where you put the A&A data folder.

If any other A&A data folder exist just rename it (A&A whatever U like)
You can switch quickly between modes this way only the folder labeled A&A with nothing added after it will be read by the game.

Excuse me, Gizmotron.

I have one question regarding the buildings if it has not been asked yet. Where can I find the slots for the Engineer Brigade and the Artillery Brigade? The reason I asked is because I installed the mod into "My Documents," and when I started the game, I noticed that I cannot build an airfield. I would like to know the answer to my question. Thanks.

you will need to recruit an Industrial HQ before you can get all of the brigades and depots available. the Industrial HQ should be kept somewhere safe and within the zone of supply of a well-fortified city. this city can be owned by yourself or a team-mate. this way, even if you lose your Corps HQ, you can still rebuild your economy quickly.

That's good to know, but I can't seem to find an Industrial HQ anywhere, not even in the build menu when I select the Corps HQ. However, if I find the option to recruit an Industrial HQ on my own, I will let you know.

extract the files to your desktop.

if you have a "My Documents" folder you need to open that up and remove the original A&A folder. this mod will not cooperate well with other mods and patches. you need to install this patch with a 'clean' version of the game.

it also only seems to work on the English language version of the game-- so if you're using a foreign-language version the mod won't work without some serious tweaking. the English version of the game is the only one I have access to.

(I'm still using Windows XP, so for other details somebody else will have to chime in).

then open up your browser and go to your Axis & Allies program folder.

then paste the data folder and video folder into your Axis & Allies folder

the most common file path is usually like this:

C:\ProgramFiles\Atari\Axis&Allies\

that should get you up and running.

if you're using Windows 7 or 8 (which I've never used, I'll have to ask somebody to chime in on that)

1. they maps are all located in the Maps folder under the Campaign folder.

2. cutscene actors can move, attack, or defend. only organizations (aka regiments) can patrol and explore. you can command cutscene actors to attack but it's a laborious process that involves using many triggers.

the EASIEST way is to have them attack a preselected position or city AFTER an actor has entered a pre-arranged area. any enemy units they encounter on the way will get dealt with like a normal attack.

the main value in using cutscene actors is that they don't use regimental banners and are perfect for ambushes inside of cities or forests. the Arctic Roadways map in this mod shows just about everything I know how to do with trigggers. (there's about 300 in there). I can't really explain it here-- but if you study that map in the editor the answer is in there. I learned how to create cutscene actor ambushes by studying the original Guadalcanal map in the editor.

Thanks for the reply. Anyway

1.Where's the Arctic Roadways map?
2.Some land division hq spotted the 'Deploy to Location' option where I can find more units types but it's impossible to buy those units!
3. The SS Tank Artillery Regiment is overpower. Their primary attack is bombard order so they will fire at extreme range, suffer no uncontrollable when in combat. Also its firepower is so strong that a single volleys can devastate any other units and a full division of 5 regiments (plus some basic infantry for spot) can basically win the battle on their own! Also they're tough enough to withstand air strike and opts

the Arctic Roadways map should be in the Maps folder in the Tutorial section.. I forgot to mention that it is one of the 6 tutorial maps... don't remember which one. I think it's the last one.

the SS artillery tank regiment? I don't remember it being too horrible-- but the heavy artillery halftrack regiment with that big mortar got pretty bad. I'm not going to include that unit in the new version of the game. (it's the one that as 240 blast damage with a 240 bonus against buildings and 5-morale damage. that specific unit won't be available. additionally there will now be a new special op that allows you to kill every artillery unit instantly with enough experience points)

some of the deploy to location regiments have broken code. the non-Airborne tents that have a 'deploy to location' feature won't work. I've solved this problem by finding a way to have halftracks summon infantry regiments. so that feature won't be included in the Uncommon Valor mod. (if I can remember to get rid of it!)
