Theharkonnen: Drats, Well at least we checked. What game models are compatible with Blender?
.nif and .blender are the ones we have most commonly come across that work. Some .obj work, but some do not too. I tried using .dae once, but to no avail.
Civilization 4 has a lot of .nifs. I think I went through those. I believe there is a opelblitz truck, but it would be strange to have that for Germany and defaults for everyone else.
Civilization 5 usually doesn't work, but there is one guy who likes to use .blender. We're using his models mostly (With serious modification to work in A&A).
There is tf3dm website, and I tried to do some models from there. Some models work, some do not.
I can't do .max and a lot of others since they require expensive programs.
Thanks for that info, If its of use I found this link here to a mod pack that has a Opel Blitz and a Studebaker. I will snoop around more tonight. Link: Forums.civfanatics.com
Nice, I missed that. Although to justify it, we would need a model for the western allies.
Just now I found a link to a mod here for Civilization 4 that has a Wespe, I thought it might be useful for that alone if you don't have one already. Civilization4.filefront.com
At this link here I found a ZIS-5 Truck for the Soviets.
There was also a file from Civilization 5 for a GMC CCKW but it probably wouldn't work as you said. More later possibly.
Hey Gizmotron, really nice job with this mod your making it looks awesome,
I was wondering but are new types of trucks going to be included for the factions like the Opel Blitz for the Germans or Bedford OY for the Brits?
And is the Staghound Armored Car going to be given to the Brits? The Americans use it in game, but they never used it. Only the Brits/Commonwealth did. Could be replaced with a M8 Greyhound or M20.
We have the Greyhound and Puma in there.
I haven't really found any good truck models to replace the defaults, so this will stay the same for now.
Would units like these work?
If they had a link...
Look for a post that has four links in it that each say rusfolder, its on page 1. that's the mod where I think the units are, its split up into multiple links because its so large.
This is the main version of that mod, I think my first link is of the newest patch of it. So you might need to look at both links I posted to get all those units.
Disregard my second post, its just an English translation file set, the actual mod with units is at this link here: Union.4bb.ru
(Its in Russian by the way, the mod is the links that are split into six parts, there is also two patch's that may have more units which would make it worth looking at.
the links for these are union.4bb.ru/viewtopic.php?id=580#p51407
it should automatically direct you to the post of the patch which is called 7.50, when you enter the url in and go to the site.
The second patch which may add more units (I m not sure) is here: Mediafire.com My first post from earlier in the day referred to a newer version of the mod which adds more units as well I believe but is not standalone so I don't think it comes with the models from the main mod version and two patch's I have posted links to here. So that first link should definitely be looked at as a lot of additional models are added there.
Sorry for the Clutter on your page Gizmotron, just wanted to also claify my first post by reposting the link of it again at a better location (also in Russian)
Its called 7.77.3 the link should automatically send you to the post. Union.4bb.ru
It is also divided into multiple parts.
I looked into these. It seems they are based off the Blitzkrieg game model format. These formats are not compatible with blender.
In addition, the files took literally forever to download and the files are often broken.
Conclusion: This option will not work.
