Generals Classic Re-Released

News

Fellow fellow modders, community members and fans. This mod projects was originaly released durring a time when Windows XP was the dominant operating system.Because of this it caused abit of a problem once windows Vista, 7 and 8 came around the corner and broke much of the original launching software which is required to play the mod.

The re-release of this projects is there for not realy an update to the projects themselfs but for those users who had trouble getting the mods to work under newer versions of windows should now find it easier to play this mod.

Hope you all enjoy.

Got some problems here. I am running Win10 64-bit. Generals and Zero Hour are fully patched, but the Generals classic launcher is giving me an error repeatedly when I start it and when I click on any buttons:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Configuration system failed to initialize.

And the details are in the following paste:
Pastebin.com

It even does this when I click the luancher's exit button and won't quit when I click continue. I have to click quit on the error, then click quit again when it pops up the error again before Windows then gives me the message that the launcher has stopped working.

Generals and Zero Hour just don't work on Windows 10, because Microsoft refuses to include or allow certain necessary DLL files or the like to work on Windows 10.

Your statement is incorrect. They do work.

One has to simply install the game(s), than crack it/them, since Windows 10 is known for its issues with 'secdrv.sys' (i.e: the "not-so-covert" push for "games as service" model). ;)

And has to make sure the games are running under elevated privileges (i.e: as admin), and in compatibility mode, for Windows XP (S.P. 2 or 3).

— — —

Note:

Newer games (Red Alert 3, and onward), can run in Windows 7 or Vista (S.P. 2 or 3) compatibility mode.

— — —

If that does not work, contact Origin support, and provide them with the retail code(s) for Generals and Zero Hour, they in turn will provide you with free Ultimate Collection, containing all of C&C titles (& D.L.C's), in one.

— — —

Note:

The Ultimate Collection works on Windows 10, and comes with the aforementioned settings already pre-selected, during the installation process.

Additional note:

Create direct shortcuts to the game(s) executable(s) (or the mod launcher(s)),
bypassing the (U.C) launchers, (usually) avoiding any issues.

If the issues persist, try this: Cncnz.com

If the issues still persist, then install and crack the retail versions,
applying the settings as aforementioned.

— — —

Afterwards, simply install the mod(s) as instructed, and enjoy.

Good luck, and have fun.

Best of regards, Destromath.

I'd like possibly a small patch which includes the newer models for infantry seen in ROTR and SHW. Is that possible to make in the amount of time you have? 'Cause I know that you're working hard on the next version of ROTR.

Getting a "Technical Difficulties...You have encountered a serious error." Message when I Launch the game. I do not get this on other mods. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I am on a Win 10 machine.

Classic Cameos are very good mod for ShW and RotR.

And it would be nice for this mod.
