First Strike is a Star Wars total conversion modification for Battlefield 2142. The goal of First Strike is to totally immerse the players into the amazing universe of Star Wars by presenting the most accurate representations of famous Star Wars locales, weapons, and characters, and combining them with exciting, fast paced gameplay and features new to the Battlefield scene. Within this mod you'll find yourself as a soldier of the Galactic Empire or as a freedom fighter for the Rebel Alliance. You'll fight across lovingly detailed recreations of various Star Wars locations with a wide array of weapons and vehicles.
Greetings Troopers! Nope, we've not decided to rename First Strike Star Wars Battlefront. That would get really messy to say the least. No, to celebrate the announcement at E3 that DICE are (at long last) producing a Star Wars Battlefront game. (If you need any inspiration DICE, don't hesitate to get in touch) We feel we should have a bit of a weekender of First Strike action, Saturday and Sunday night from 8pm BST (British Summer Time). So feel free to hop on the Rebel Defiance server...

So feel free to hop on the Rebel Defiance server (New Ventrilo Server details: vent-uk.gamingdeluxe.co.uk, Port No: 4904), and lets get some good games going while looking forward to the first DICE SW: Battlefront. I like to think First Strike will have inspired them in at least some small way. Especially since all those years ago when the mod first came out, members of the dev team got invited to their studios to demo the mod. Check out the link below for one of the proudest moments in First Strike history:
Since 2002 we have explored, played and enjoyed mods of all shapes and sizes just like First Strike. We love games like Battlefield 2142 that have opened themselves up to modding. Because of communities like Workshop, Nexus, Curse, RTSL, GameBanana and Mod DB, more games support modding today than ever before.
Let's celebrate modding
As mods play a bigger role in the future of gaming, we believe it is important to recognize the effort the teams behind the work put in, giving us countless hours of enjoyment while asking nothing in return. We have the power to change our games and that needs to be celebrated to ensure it remains a big part of PC gaming's future.
It all started
In 2015, when the paid modding dispute left many gamers and modders worried about the direction the industry is headed. Things have since settled down, but we believe it is important to continue this small tradition to show we are not alone in our love for mods, and the open platforms that embrace them.
Mod Appreciation Week
Nothing is more motivating than knowing something you've built is being enjoyed by others. So this week if there is a mod you love on Mod DB (or anywhere else), make the effort to shout out to them, mention and link their mod in a tweet, blog, forum or facebook post with the hashtag #modlove2016 (or click the icons above for a pre-built post).
