A single player mod with 10 large SP maps that will give you about 10 hours of gameplay.
This is the second teaser that we release of our latest Half Life2 sp-mod called Final Project. As you can read at the end of this teaser caused the last Valve/Steam update us to a lot of new problems with this mod. Things that worked well are suddenly corrupted in some way and we work very hard to fix these issues so we finally can release our 4th Half Life 2 sp-mod. Sorry for this delay...
Nice trailer.
COOL VERY GOOD JOB MAN i cant wait for playing this
Really nice work and, btw, you don't have to apologize for the delay caused by the Steam update, it's not your fault ;)
If the synths are brought to life as NPC in this mod, I'm probally going to like this mod even more. The soundtrack and skins, while obviously taken from elsewhere, fit very well.
I hope this mod has a good story, because your skills certainly give you room to tell one, and I'll enjoy learning more about that fast zombie-like creature, even though it seems it has been changed from the more-frightening beta fast zombie to the regular HL2 one.
Amen LordXamot !
Just keep rolling with the punches Leon ( and you take these setbacks so gracefully, at least in these posts ;) ). Trailer looks very enticing. Keep at it man !
Looking great, and dear god... That last part with the flying base... I just cant wait!
let me first thank you all for the kind words, and it's hard to be honest at this point but i have to, otherwise you will be disapointed ones you play this 4th Hl2 sp-mod of us. thing is, the synths are not brought to life as npc's, (although i serieusly have thought about the option). the synths are only to be seen as in this teaser, they are made out of dynamic props that are parented to a door_brush.
the steam update makes it imposseble to do these things now, custom animations are not working anymore.
same with the story, i had a last minute moment with a rather great story line when you ask me. but again, the update causes problems here to. the main problem i'm having as a mapper is that maps are quit quick to large. when you look at all my previous maps then you know that i like to make large levels. but again, the updates causes that i can't make maps anymore that are larger then about 40% of the scale of previous ones.
so, all in all i have been canseling stuff for the last 4 weeks or so. it was a choise of not being able to release at all, or cut stuff and release it, or wait till the update errors are fixed. and that last option is not realy a option, i can't wait for that, when it will be fixed that is. and not releasing would be crazy, so that leaves a mod that is cut down in many ways.
mapping is always fun to me, but the last few weeks we're VERY disapointing and enourmusly frustrating!
With this all in mind i am even more pleased with all you're compliments as usualy...
thanks,
leon
Wow, that's actually quite sad. :(
I would actually wait another 3 months or so if it would mean the addition of a grand story and new content.
Rushing to finish the mod isn't really a good idea if you were to ask me, because you may look back and say "I really wish I spent another few months to refine the mod more and make it that much more amazing."
But I for one will go along with whatever you decide.
Good luck Leon.
And, by the way, what's the name of the song in the trailer?
well, at one side i do agree with you and should i just wait some months to add a realy full story and custom model animation, etc.
but, the problem is that it isn't sure if the community is able to fix the issues and valve doesn't seem to fix them at all.
beside that, i already wanted to move on after my last big HL2 sp mods (Strider Mountain) but i just still had some ideas that i wanted to make maps with in the source engine. this 4th sp-mod with Hl2 was never intended to be as large as it already is. i made around 47 sp-maps with Hl2 and it's realy time for me to move on to newer games and engines/editor. another extra reason is that the HL2 community is after the last update even smaller as it already was. and when you put in that much time in mapping as i do then you like the maps to be played by as many people as possible.
about the music, i'm glad i still had the files on my harddisk otherwise i wouldn't haven known the asnwer to what the titles are. but i did find them. there 3 of them and i used 2 of them, i only don't know anymore which 2 of the 3 i used. the titles are;
06-we-re-under-attack-.mp3
14-darkest-before-dawn.mp3
19-last-stand.mp3

What texture did you use for the clouds?
