We've had some very encouraging feedback from Mays news, thank you all for that. I don't want to drag this out... we didn't make it. No public beta yet guys.

It was looking hopeful up until the start of June, we were all assuming there would be a public release of EX (Exterminatus) this month (Chromeangel even added a big red "BETA" to the menu screen). However, upon testing the latest version we got a crash bug on just about everyone's machine. Something was going badly wrong in Valve's physics code. A week on Chromeangel tracked the crash down to one particular (critical) action in the game.

Rather than release EX with a bug that would cause a lot of grief it was decided to try to find a fix, but time has run out on us. No fix, so no Beta. This means EX is going to go quiet for a while now while Chromeangel (as our only coder) deals with some real life priorities. The mod is not dead, it's just sleeping and development outside of the code related area will continue. Mapping and modeling work is still underway, and this extra time will allow the completion of a improved version of the map we call "digsite" that has been causing so many problems with system performance.

EX will be back in full swing sometime in the late summer/early autumn with a (hopefully) crash-free public version.

So until then ill keep you updated as best i can with any development and Chromeangel leaves us with a couple work in progress shots of the weapon models we gained by trade:

Finally here is a slightly older series of clips showing off the general layout of "Ex_thunderhawk", one of our maps. A lot has been added since then, but the layout remains roughly the same.

Its ok!!
I would rather wait for a beta that doesn't crash every five minutes versus a rushed out beta that does.

And real life sucks, anyway. It does rank above the virtual world though.
Good luck, im sure you guys will figure it out.

Will the Melta-gun be more balanced?
Because from the looks of it, if you can sneak up on a Carnifex and kill it in less than 5 seconds, you got a game-breaking gun right there

Ever tried sneaking up on a carni? Mostly i got away with it because we had all the cap points and i appeared behind him.

It also works like a melta should in that the further you are away from it, the less damage it does (need to be within claw range for it to be heavily lethal). It also has a limited range of about 6 meters (approx)
