Your name is Alex Johnes. You're one of scientists caught up in the Black Mesa disaster. After being trained in a special Black Mesa self-defense course three months ago, you're unwilling to accept the sure death as your destiny. You will neither let the troops catch you, nor will they wipe you out. Make your way. Find Gordon Freeman. He is the last hope that drives you traveling on...
Escape from the darkness is a single-player campaign for Half-Life1 and includes:
I developed and released "Escape from the darkness" in 2005 and the game is completly free. It can be downloaded right here in the “downloads” section. Please make sure to download and apply the STEAM patch if you want to play the game on STEAM.
Unfortunately I lost all the source files during a hard-drive crash, so I am unable to fix some of the invisible walls / clipping issues in the maps, sorry for that.
Please make sure you frequently quick-save since the game will not auto-save for you! There are some clipping issues. Try to duck-jump in case you get stuck. However none of the bugs should prevent you from completing the game.

I released a fix that makes you able to play eftd on steam as well. Its only 400kb so if you didn't play it because you are using STEAM, here is your chance:
Download the STEAM patch from the "downloads" section and apply it as per instructions inside the .readme provided in the file.

The mod has some things going for it, the custom weapons, custom grunts with desert camo, and one that had a sugegasa (bamboo hat), custom snow grunts and some unique locals. But unfortunately its not enough to save it from the invisible wall syndrome. Many places that seem like you can go, you can't... alot of the time for no real reason. Like when you go down a stair way thats broken on the end, you can't even jump to your death. A place where there was a a fairly large broken hole in the wall…
