So are you abandoning the idea where they get their helmet with heavy armour,well if you had maybe they dont have a helmet at level 1 but at level 2 they get a helmet

Please tell that in Edain 4.0 the Imladris Spearmen above will be able to fend off cavalry without getting trampled. It really sucks that in 3.8.1 they get trampled being spear units with bonus against cavalry units.

A unit that can't be crushed can't deal crush revenge damage to cavalry, which is one of the main advantages of spearmen. Then they wouldn't get damage from being trampled, but they would not be able to protect other units anymore.
