V 3.0: Lens flares & dirt, visor reflections / water droplets, god rays, depth of field, night & thermal vision scopes, dynamic wet surfaces with reflections, rainbows, volumetric light & fog, colored speculars and many other effects.
A couple of preview shots of the upcoming 2.0 Beta release (successor of the DS 2.0 CTP).
The beta will not contain any new features, but a number of fixes and refinements to the features of the CTP. One of the improvements will be the ability to have both sun shafts and wet surfaces being rendered at one time, which has not been possible in the CTP (at least not without modification of the shaders).
did u manage to tackle that win10 wet reflections issue? =D also YAY for beta!
I'm working on it, but that's not an easy task. For whatever reason the shader compiler behaves completely different on W10, even if the compiler itself plus all other DirectX / D3D binaries are exactly the same as on Vista (I've tried using the one from my vista installation but that did not help). So there is probably only the way of using the beta instead as soon as available (because I will address the issue there).
I tried to run game with Vista compability and I got yelled at by my PC for not having about 10 different .dlls > if u want I could try that again, create a list of them and then possibly try to dl them and see if it runs at all and if it runs, see if the wet refl coudl work like this.
In any case I blame illuminati =D
Yes from the first sign of the mod not running properly on W10 it was absolutely clear that the illuminati is responsible for that :P
If you could give me the list of the missing DLLs that might already be helpful.
AHA not 10 only 4
xrSound.dll
xrCDB.dll
xrLUA.dll
xrCore.dll
All those are present in the ShoC. My theory is that it is looking for the Vista compatible versions in order to run it with the compatibillity. Maybe if you still have the old install. The .dlls could be salvagable. If it would even launch with them. =D
Thanks for your investigations. Hmm, not sure what you mean by "old install"? I have copied the whole shoc installation folder from Vista to W10, so all files are still there.
By old install I mean old shoc installed back when u had vista, preserved on your HDD somewhere =D.
In theory it could work if you took the .dlls from there, replace the "problematic" game's ones and successfully launch it in Vista compatibility, while the effect working as desired,
We could know whether the solution lays somewhere there. =D
As I said, I have copied my entire old vista shoc folder onto my W10 environment, so file-wise it's exactly the same.
So you say I'd need to replace some files, do you mean the 4 listed above? And with what version am I supposed to replace them?
Yea the 4 listed, from vista version. But if they are the same, why doeas my PC require (cannot find) them when I run it in compatibility mode. Also after the error it turns of the compatibility mode.
But maybe it means nothing > It may lead nowhere and not help to solve the wet reflections thing at all.
I'll continue working on the Beta version which should fix the issue but I'm not sure if there's much left to do for the CTP. Meaning, you might need to wait for the Beta.
NIce ! Best of luck!
Thanks - I'll need it ;)
