Dylan's Far Cry 2 Realism Mod 1.4
Nov 23, 2012 Full Version 35 commentsFinally, a new release! Full changelog is below. The main change in this version is the changes that I made to the multiplayer game. Like always, the...
This mod fixes what Ubisoft left unfixed. Dylan's Realism Mod changes Far Cry 2 from an Africa-based sedan and pickup truck simulator into a (semi accurate)
African conflict simulator. Realistic weapon damage, recoil, realistic ammo loads and weapon reliability have been added, along with a more effective stealth suit, and revamped AI weapons. (No more SPAS12s and AR15s for militiamen). Checkpoint AI has been tweaked as well. Checkpoint guards now have a 60% chance to chase you after passing through, as opposed to 90%-100% in vanilla. Militiamen also communicate more frequently in combat, and use suppressing fire more often. However, you are now as vulnerable as the AI. A single burst of rifle fire can kill you, so you are probably going to need that extra ammo and stealth suit.

I'm going to be honest. I haven't done much work on Far Cry 2 in the past few months. I've been playing other games, doing other work, etc. And for all my fans who have been awaiting a multiplayer version release, I am sorry. The new version is coming soon. The multiplayer changes have been implemented, but have not been tested yet.
Also, thanks to fellow user BegunValkery, 1.4 will come with another version of the patch files, just in case you can't get any other versions to work. Hopefully, this will help people who have updated the game and still can't get it to work to be able to play FC2 how it was meant to be played.
In other news, Far QTE 3 is coming out soon. I can't wait to press one button and have the game play itself for me!
(The only videos that I have seen on FC3 have been from this and last years E3 (press one button and kill 5 guys in 2 seconds), but who knows, it might turn out good.)
Edit: The new version will probably be released Friday at the earliest. Just have to iron out some things and update the readme.

No one has responded to the most glaring issue with this otherwise excellent mod: GROSSLY OVERPOWERED GUNS
Using the weakest weapon in the game--the silenced makarov--grants one-shot kills anywhere on your opponent. Unlike before the mod where headshots were almost required to kill anyone as body shots bounced off your opponents. However, using the mod makes headshots completely unnecessary which removes the challenge and enjoyment. Now the ONLY advantage a rifle has over a pistol is the range-enhancing scope, as both are equally deadly! The fact that you now cannot wound the enemy with even the smallest caliber pistol is totally unrealistic and boring. Ubisoft added "enemy wounding" to FC2 as an important gameplay mechanic and, unfortunately, it's broken while using Dylan's mod.
PLEASE READJUST GUN DAMAGE TO MORE REALISTIC AND FUN LEVELS! Or at the very least just tell us how to do it ourselves, as numerous people have asked and not received any assistance.
THANK YOU!

1. Bullet-proof SHIRTLESS enemies is not realistic
2. The fact that a handgun is about as deadly as a rifle IS realistic
3. That part about instant kills through body shots, that part is correct. Though the AS50 already one shot kills most enemies if you hit them in the ankle.
