Yeah, I didn't mean to put all ground targets, I can see how that may be confusing. We have now changed it.
The Sioux is only AG but does heavy damage to all ground targets.

I don't mean to say you copied the design in anyway (I know you designed it on your own) but this really does look like the Han Gunship from ROTR. Just saying.. but I'm not saying you copied at all :)

Yeahh ... i can see that ... and the han looks like a modified hind with twin blades and so on. I think at this point, in your rotr fan boy eyes, all dual cockpit/HAMMERHEAD STYLE BLADES AND HAMMERHEAD STYLE WING CANNONS look like han's . But guess what ... it's based on this : Collectiondx.com , wich belive me - it predates the han and any of rotr's stuff end even THE HAMMERHEAD by a long time.

For the record, Anubis's opinion on this matter doesn't necessarily show the opinion of the whole team.
Although I'm not keen on being compared to other mods, it doesn't bother me enough to post about it.
I will talk to him :)

It's not that designs remind people of something that gets me angry. It's the fact that inevitably it all leads to ROTR. Like i said before and i will say it again, before you compaire us to ROTR or any SWR mod, look behind their designs and see what they remind you of. I wouldn't have a problem if someone said it reminds them of the cnc3 hammerhead or RA3 twinblade ( wich is what the han is based on ), but is it possible that before you compaire us to another mod, you actually look what is behind that other mod designs. Seriosly it's getting really annoying that inevitably all we are compaired to is ROTR. Once or twice let's say it's a coincidence, but something that is happening for months is no longer anything related to a coincidence.
I have no problem against personal opinion, i do however have a problem against cheap fanatism.

Alright I get where your coming from, and if it makes you feel any better, I'm sorry. I'm not a just one mod favorite kinda guy. I play any and all mods that are pleasing to my eye. ROTR just happens to be out and until EC comes out then that's what I'll be playing. So again sorry about comparing Anubis. I really like what Sioux looks like.. it's BadASS!! But when you play ROTR in waiting for this to come out, you kinda pick those things up.

Um the helicopter frame was redesigned to not require a tail rotor, how? The only way i know of is to use 2 main rotors?

no the system they talk about works, a lot of police helicopters in England use the system as most of the noise from a helicopter comes from the high speed rear tail rotor, so do away with the tail rotor and put in an air jet in it's place, do away with the noise, genius :)

I hope that the cannons do decent damage. I always hated the wimpy Comanche/Twinblade cannons. If its a real 30mm cannon, it should absolutely slaughter infantry and tanks. Not saying that this mod should be anywhere near realistic, but it would be infinitely more fun from a gameplay standpoint. Kind of like the heli cannons from Cold War Crisis. Again, sorry to compare between mods, but that was pretty cool. Great work!

Don't worry. Those cannons are anti-ground reapers. Like you we also enjoy 'terrible terrible damage' to quote one of my fav game makers :P . However every terrible damage maker has a price, wich is also the case for the sioux.

The difference is indeed the wings being shorter, however that was neccessary due to a visual bug we encountered with the old design. Stats wise ( except for furher balancing done ) no other difference. And i belive the skin was also improved a bit by Pav ( but don't quote me on this one ).

hehe yeah these comparisons between mods, games and even game consoles can get annoying so kinda understand where anubis is coming from. since some of these models are being compared to svr's model designs.
anyway i think the Sioux looks pretty cool and original to me.. cant wait to get my hands on of them :D

That's a recent US military thing, with the gunships. Apache Longbow, then the (now scrapped) Comanche, we assumed it would keep up later. Older military helicopters had designations from birds (Little Bird, Blackhawk) or other animals (cobra). Really, the only constant naming pattern with US aircraft today is the A/B/C/F pattern for tactical aircraft, which we did follow with the Thunderbolt. A is attack, (primarily CAS)(such as the AC-130 or A-10) aircraft, B is bombers (B1 Lancer, B2, etc), C is Cargo, and F is fighter. So yeah...

Description

In recent years, the American Confederacy has begun phasing out some of it's older fixed-wing aircraft, most notably the AC-130, also known as the Spectre Gunship from previous campaigns. Rather than completely scrap the concept of a close-support aircraft, however, the Confederacy's brightest minds managed to rebuild the old howitzers from the AC-130s, and fit them to the wings of one of their latest helicopter designs under the new name of repeater cannons. This amalgamation of old and new was deemed the Sioux, a helicopter capable of dealing heavy damage at close support range, removing the need for the old AC-130, as well as providing a support platform that was capable of providing support for more than 90 seconds. The new helicopter frame was also of monumental design, removing one of the major flaws of all previous rotor designs - the need for a tail rotor.

With the unique NOTAR, the main rotor's torque is cancelled by a high volume of low pressure air expelled close to the tail-fins, thus changing the boundary layer of air, and stabilising the helicopter without the need for a tail rotor, a critically vulnerable part of all helicopter designs up until this point in time. The new design makes the frame far more hardy, and capable of absorbing far more damage than any other helicopter to date. To further increase their effectiveness, the Siouxs were fitted with state-of-the-art Anti-Tank missiles, cleverly housed in old-fashioned pods to fool opposing factions. Due to this old-fashioned design, the number of missiles carried is massive, but the reload time is rather long, due to the cramped space for the reloading mechanism. The Sioux is in every sense a modern support platform, and their use can quickly turn the tide of any battle.

Unit's Abilities:

* High armour and good resistance to damage.
* Heavy damage output vs ground targets.
