Dark Interval is a restoration/revision mod that lets you play Half-Life 2 as it could have been. Using Valve's early concepts, we're creating new maps, models, textures, and custom dialogue. The mod is released in episodes, the most recent being Dark Interval: Part I - an intro chapter to the bigger story.
Early Combine Dropship model converted from the 2003 leak. New textures by A-Shift, 1024x1024.
Wow... What a great model, certainly an improvement over Valve's god-awful model.
Sounds like all they did was give it a new lick of paint, I don't think there was anything necessarily wrong with the model.
I'd say there was.

But you're still fundamentally using the original mesh right?
I wouldn't exactly say that a ****** up UV map equates to it being a **** model, especially when we're talking about unfinished content :)
Yes, it's re-Uved, but mesh is the same. For now, at least, since back door floats in air/clips through the ground on landing.
It says right there that the model was ported, otherwise we specify when it's custom mesh.
Keep in mind also that the original used 10 separate texture files ranging from 64x64 to 512x512 and now it's one much better texture in 1024x1024. Plus effects like bump mapping, phong, and emissive blending for the glowing parts. The mesh is same but now it looks, you know, normal and fresh.
I thought you dropped off the face of the earth in december!
Awesome!
Wow.... is amazing !!!
Boba Fett incoming.
glad I wasn't the only one.
Is this going to be in Chapter 2?
We wouldn't be showing it otherwise. We want it to pretty much replace Combine dropships when deploying troops.
What does the interior look like?
When this is released I'm gonna put it into HL2 retail. Looks way better that that weird crab thing with a container Valve went with.
It looks more like something the Combine would use the in Seventh Hour war. The crab thing fits in with the other ship.
They made it so it could actually work in HL2 Retail: Youtube.com
Nice. They need to put on a gun or a thing that would protect the Combine from being shot by the player.
Right on. I like it a lot more than the crab thing with the container. It's a bit cooler looking to me and more conventional.
How many cut enemies will this mod feature?
Dang. Just noticed how asymmetrical this is. Great work!
