As Contra X Beta has been released, we would like to announce that our team is currently recruiting experienced and passionate:

  • 2D/3D artists with experience in making quality models, textures, particle effects
  • Mapmakers (scripters, cinematic artists, lore writers)
  • Testers

Contra team will have two hiring events per year, summer and winter, where everyone interested can join our team, and help us in further development.

Every person who is skilled enough can help us improve this mod, and achieve our goals faster and sooner.
Obviously, this is not paid job, but rather hobby.

As a team member, you will get access to all Developer related channels, as well as Developer Contra X version in real time. Your work will be appreciated and incorporated into the mod.

Testers policy has been changed and updated (due to some negative experience with some testers in past). Person will have to be responsible and active, but in return will get to play all new version with other developers and testers (fun is guaranteed).

EDIT
As a tester, the most important for us is to have PvP games. Meaning, you will have to be active online and play multiplayer games with other testers and developers. Here is crucial to have good connection speed and to be in similar timezone with others. Skills are also important because depending on PvP games we work on balance.

If you are interested in any of above, please leave comment and your Discord contact! Thank you all, hope you enjoy released X version!

3DsMax for models, and Adobe Photoshop for textures.

Unfortunately i don’t have any of these skills but i hope you find some people.

Also for the next release there should be a person or you yourselve that has an overview about the fun aspect of the mod.

Ok here me out i know it sounds dumb, but what i mean by that, is that there should be someone that reminds the dev team about the usability and also the fun factor that certain aspects of the game bring. For instance in the new contra x version a lot of upgrades got removed( i know also some new where added) but at least for me it was fun researching all the upgrades in a certain time and see your unit or fraction become more and more viable and powerful. Also it is a fine line between balancing units/upgrades to make them as balanced for pvp and dont missing the fun“ aspect for single players or pvp players that dont play so seriously. In other words i just sometimes miss that contra 007 feeling where almost everything was overpowered and so it was balanced again. Also i know its hard to balance all the new stuff but removing so many upgrades, for example superweapon general just is not the way best option in my opinion
Sorry for the wall of text but thats what i think about the new version

We remove upgrades that dont bring any specific benefit in order to free up upgrades slots, as ZH upgrades number is limited.
Some stuff work as upgrade and people dont even know about it.

I agree with your points. It is really a fine line between having balance and fun.

We removed some upgrades such as SW general's Emitter which made missiles effective vs. infantry because it was way too strong. SW general also lost building armor and EMP mines upgrades, but received mobile defenses and more units to discourage camping and encourage active gameplay. There are some more changes remaining like the Futuristic rank 3 heavy artillery.

We are making progress in the right direction, but things are not yet finished. New interesting but balanced upgrades, unit abilities and general's powers will be made. We will use up all the upgrade slots. Our main priorities for this one were to fix remaining balance issues, errors and bring more "quality of life" changes such as updated UI and launcher, which was tremendous and time consuming work.

Hopefully you will like things more in our next version where more work will be directed towards new content now that we finally have a more stable base to step on.
