Greetings everyone!
A short video presentation of a new super unit for Cybernetic general, "Widow".
In case you didn't notice yet on Contra 009 stream videos, Cybernetic general got his spider units back, as an option to counter fast and deadly GLA attacks.
This means, when you reach rank3 and build Strategy Center, you will have to decide whether you will join the cult of Spiders or follow the path of Angels.
- if you select Angels, you will be able to build rank3 Angel units, together with their rank5 leader "Seraph" mech.
- if you chose Spiders, you will be able to use rank3 Spider units, with their mother "Widow" as rank 5 super unit.
Many of you will ask what is the difference and which one to use!? Well, it depends on your twisted mind. :)
- But it also depends on the type of the opponent you are facing. If you are fighting China, or USA, most likely you will go with Angels because of their firepower and armor. Angels are strong, but also slow and cost more.
- If you are fighting any of GLA generals, you will probably want to go with Spiders, as Spiders are fast and weak, but also cost less.
Depending on which option you chose, you will be able to build one Super unit, either "Seraph" or "Widow".
"Widow" is fast long range Super unit, armed with prototype of dual rail gun cannons, missile system effective vs ground and air targets, and is able to deploy spider mines for cheap price (used by repair droid in the past).
Please note that final version of Widow may differ from what you saw in video, as things are still being tested, fixed and repaired.

you havent mentioned it so the answer presumably is no, but than again you aint done.. will widow or angel decision bring some other effects, like globally for unit pallete or something? because allthough its admirable and so so lovely.. it would be even greater if its not just that simple like: ok, angels for that opponent and widow for that opponent..
but really great great work
If you go for Angels, you will unlock Seraph, Remiel, Hadriel and Uriel
If you go for Spiders, you will unlock Widow, Crab, Spider tank and Dominator.
Angels are slow and expensive, but heavily armored and more powerful.
Spiders are fragile and less powerful, but quicker and cheaper.
So, depending on the strategy you want to use, you can choose whatever you want. Angels are more for brute force and tanking, while Spiders are better for quick assault and spamming
i must say it is really nice to see that people from different/rival/ mods ( if one would call it that) work together! to whathever capacity.. still good!
I proposed my services as Voice Actor/Livestreamer to Contra team, and they accepted. And I did that because I personally find this mod very entertaining and very well made.
To me, it brings new voices to experiment, and also more diversity to my Twitch channel. It's a win-win thing :)

Railguns, external missile battery, and seeker mines on a quadruped. Give it a token nuclear weapon and we have ourselves a full blown fusion between REX and Peace Walker. This was unexpected in the best way.
Will the AI know how to prioritize which Super Unit to go with?
Building Seraph or Widow depends on the unlock, which is randomly chosen at rank 3.

But there is still a problem with that chiken anti-air 1st lvl unit :D
Glad to see the Sniper tanks back online with separate Tech tree. From my point of view, the Widow's legs movement are awkward and not really realistic. I hope the leg movements will be improved so the Widow will walk with it's sturdy and mechanical like legs.
Are you going to make a tech tree selection for other generals for this 009 or later or not to do at all?
We have no other tech tree selections planned.
After the 009 is released, could you please make the tech tree for all Generals? Including the description that is written in each unit in game. Also the meaning of the Chinese and Arabic names of China and GLA units.
Tech trees will be made. Descriptions of all units will be updated and available on our website. We've brought back the original names of most units (e.g. Huang Di - Emperor), but we didn't change the super unit names. They are usually names of creatures from mythology and have no translation.

guys I think you gonna need to change the USA war factory design at least for Cybernetic and Superweapons generals . the current one is not fit enough to carry units like Seraph , Saturn or Widow .
beside the old USA war factory looks boring for me somehow and not cool enough to handle a new nice designs like you did in this mod . I think I can give you an Ideas of another design if there is a way to share a pics with you
The Widow looks lovely, although I suggest to try and improve on it's walking animation. Even though the Cult of Spiders are supposed to be lightweight, the Widow certainly looks like it packs a weight as heavy as it's arsenal's punch.
Yes, that was intention. Rank3 level spiders have thin legs and hence smoother walking, while Widow is all bulky, with thick limbs (which also helps her crush normal tanks).
Dude these are fantastic. I have 2 suggestions for your units. I tinkered around with making my own custom units and I noticed doing these 2 things were like the cherries on top.
1. Make the "walker" units move like they are HEAVY! With each step, the body gets jolted a bit as the feet hit the ground. Much more immersive!
2. Adjust the speed of the leg animations to match the speed of the unit, or adjust the speed of the unit to match the animations. If it's off, it looks like the feet are slipping over the terrain.
Just suggestions, take it or leave it. Love this mod though regardless.

Spiders are back but Dominator is the only unit that has no specific names like other tech 3 units. I prefer to name it with a Invertebrate names like spider and crab. Angels have specific names so I would like to rename Dominator to Centipede, Millipede, Lobster, Crayfish, Mantis, Carabinii, Fire ant, Ammonite, Trilobite, etc.

A little question.
Is it going to be supported on Windows 32 version ?
I'm trying to play Zero hour with the contra mod and the game itself had a problem with the new windows versions, and initially I've read there are problem with mac, so I had to install windows xp 32 bits to avoid all these issues, but now the game works and I have a problem with the Contra mod.
I tried the v8 final and v9 beta2.
If it's not supported can you guide me to the latest supported version ?
