Codename: Black Metal (CBM) will be a First person World War II shooter modded on Valve's Orange Box Engine. The mod will include both single and multiplayer with several multiplayer game mode.

This mod will heavy utilize teamwork element with a simple class system. The classes are categorized as offensive , defensive, and support types. Each class will be able to choose their own selection of weapons. There will also be upgrade and attachment once a player have completed require tasks.

The current design for multiplayer mode will be attack and defend, and capture the flag.


Health System
CBM will feature the health regeneration system, once a player suffer enough damage he will die, however, if the player can stay low, he will recover from his wound in a period of time. The time of recoveries will be longer than other FPS titles. Players can apply first aid on themselves to reduce the recovery time but they will not be able to return fire during the healing animation.


HUD and Ammunition
CBM will use a more realistic HUD, there will be no health bar as we have mention with our health system, in addition there will be no cross hair and ammo count. The ammunition icon will only display the amount of magazine left for your primary and secondary weapon, so players will have to keep count on their bullet in their gun.

Reloaded magazine will be tossed on the ground so unused bullet in the magazine will be also be wasted, therefore it is wise to reload accordingly. There will be ammunition dump available to replenishes magazines, and of course fallen allies or enemies will drop weapons as well.

Mod production Updated

News

Hello everyone, it's been a long time since there are any real visual update, but we are still progressing. Several reason of our slow update is due to Easter vacation that most of our members have. They deserve the breaks and some of us are still working hard.

I am currently getting a foothold with modeling in maya, and learning c++ to see if I can manage to help do some code work. But unfortunately I got sick and my head is half dead from the medication I took. However I will continue to work, and hopefully in the next 3-4 days I will have more weapon models out.

Just a heads up to people that are interested in this mod, we really like constructive comments, we also acquire another mapper, if you have any talent that can move this mod forward please do not hesitate to pm me and we will be happy to put you on the team if your skills is required.

IF you read, we have changed the mod to Third Person to First Person.
We are still keeping the third person over the shoulder option but it will be moved to the options so if you want it you have to enable it.

Do not worry, third person will be available to anyone unless the server owner blocks it.
The Source Engine is not capable of Third Person unless you work on the core for about 3-4 years straight with a team of 3 coders.
