Run. Think. Shoot. Live. Source. Black Mesa is the Half-Life 2 total conversion of the original Half-Life game. Utilizing the Source engine and its endless array of possibilities and powers, Black Mesa will throw you into the world that started the Half-Life continuum and introduced Gordon Freeman to the world as a gun-toting, bullet-dodging Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics. This mod is not dead, we are still hard at work on it.

WOW, what an improvement... but, WTF? How did you get that grating texture to cast shadows!? They must be models... I would really like to know how you managed to pull that off.

That's great! I would plush what NOCTVRNVS said, how the **** did you make the shadows cast on the cylindrical models O_o . Looks like per-pixel self-shadowing is a feature of the new SDK but how do you use it in Hammer? Share your knowledge!

Suddenly you notice all the flaws in hl1, "why would there be a huge grate in a derelict area?" "Why does that grate have a whole room seemingly dedicated to it" You make it all seem real!

The light should only light a small part, not the whole place.
But, it's a really good detail, much more better than the old one.

ehhh, i like it, but i don't.

i liked the grating and the tunnel'd ladder down, because when you got to the bottom, the walls were oldstyle brick, and you knew you were at the very bottom of black mesa. but with the direction you're taking it, you put the warning block things at the edge, and left tiles unfitted, so the unfinished style looks really good.

sorry for the double post, but scratch that, i really like it. the bottom walls are rock, and it's showing that here, they are still building black mesa. it looks great :> and i like the concept
