* What is this?
As noted in the description, this is a base First Person Shooter mod you can edit to get your own going more easily.

* What will it offer?
The default base has remade character, weapon and some camera animations, along with a folder with files from which you'll be able to edit game and character properties and values quickly and without much hassle. I will also include some how-to files/tutorials if you're looking to get started on editing the original files directly and adding your own stuff (like weapons) from scratch.

Additionally, once this mod is released, I'll upload all of my source files for animations, models, particles and anything else relevant. This means you'll get the files necessary to edit everything I made without needing to start over.

I'm also open to suggestions! Should you come up with a cool idea, let me know and I'll surely consider it.

I'll be posting screenshots and videos so you can get a closer look at the ongoing progress.

Okay, so...

Sorry for not having posted anything new as of lately. I underestimated how busy I'd be this year.
But not having put up any new animations or screenshots doesn't mean that the project is dead or that I have stopped working on it.

Since that 'got my laptop back' comment, there's been a bit of a struggle with it, really. The guy I sent it to only did a low-level format at first.
One or two weeks later I was getting crashes again.
Finally, he replaced the hard drive. But the laptop insisted on crashing- this time a compatibility issue with Windows 7. I personally took care of updating this baby to 10 and resolving remaining driver problems and I can now gladly say that everything's been stable for the last month or two.

To the mod.
As I said, I'm still on it. Been experimenting a bit with Max Payne 2 which gave me a few ideas on how to go forward with this project. I've been working to solve something that's been bugging me about this mod for a while: hand models. If I want this to look good, using the default hands just won't cut it. And for this purpose, I've been poking around with the default skeleton. Having successfully introduced a modified skeleton to Max 2, I've learned how to take an existing skeleton and add bones to it.

In fewer words, this means that if everything goes well I should be able to slap the Max Payne 2 hands into a new player model+skeleton for better looking animations.

However, as my Schedule is currently looking pretty grim, I can't promise any dates; just assure that I'm not planning on dropping this any time soon.

I'll take this chance to say thank you to everyone watching this.
Thank you.

- ALT out.

PS: If enough people ask for it, I could tidy up a bit and post a link here to an unrelated personal minimod. It's not anywhere near finished, but should be fun to play around in the meanwhile.

IT'S ALIVE!

I do hope you can come back to work on this too because it is a great, great idea and I would support it wholeheartedly!

Thanks for not abandoning this!

Honestly, I haven't been working much on it lately. Know that it's not dead, though, just temporarily on hold. I still want to have this released as much as everyone else.

is there any chance you could release what you have so far?

Sorry. What I had so far plays like garbage due to a fundamentally flawed approach to camera positioning and a serious lot of unfinished or missing animations. It's not worth it. Remember that the updates I post are essentially cherry picked bits meant to show the progresses made, not what's missing until a first release :P

I've recently started over from scratch to try and get the best possible perspective that'll allow animation consistency across the board, so I'm working on that now.

Well do you need any help with the mod?

Not really, just need to clear up some free time and get the motivation required to work on it. I do appreciate the offer, though.
