AFTERWARDS is a near future realism total conversion for Quake 3 Arena. Featuring single-player, multi-player, intense sustained respawn and survivor style death-match game-modes, and multiple objective story based objective game-play; Afterwards delivers the punch and intensity of Action games with the play sophistication of dedicated Realism games and mods.

Eighteen weapons including: handguns, sub-machine guns, carbines, shotguns, sniper rifles, flame throwers, a mini gun, two kinds of grenades, and particle beam weapons flesh out Afterwards incredible armory offering a slew of realistic near-future weapons both conventional and exotic.

Afterwards is heavily optimized to play well on the minimum Quake 3 Arena system requirement and features a complete implementation of Neal "Haste" Toronto's sophisticated Unlagged™ Hit-Testing™, lag-compensation and Skip-Correction™ net-code; offering fantastic game-play for dial-up FPS fans at pings that would be unplayable on other games and mods (except Navy SEAL/s: Covert Operations), and LAN like play at pings that would be considered adequate on other games.

On the night before Christmas 24 December 2002 the AFTERWARDS Dev Team announced the end of development of their Q3A Mod AFTERWARDS and in a benevolent gesture donated all their source code to the Q3A Mod community... So while Afterwards is technically no longer under development, anyone can pick up the source update, tweak, modify or expand Afterwards in completely new directions!

A new map for the Afterwards mod, a total Q3 conversion, is on the way. It's set in the frozen wastes of antartica (no aliens or preds, I promise!) and the action takes place at an abandoned science station.

Now for an update on the latest Beta release which is coming within the next couple of months.

This Beta (Beta 2.5) will be the newest release in over three years. Since I have been given permision from the original creators to continue this mod, I have been taking on all of the responibilities since I don't have any team members at this time.

New code is in the works and here are some things you should see: Afterwards will hopefully be able to play mp3's and allow you to add your own mp3's in a sub folder for a more personalized fragging experience.

Minor fixes including the func_rotating_door problem which is keeping me from using rotating doors at the moment and that just isn't right!

Also I am going to implement bots in the tactical mode (this should be a true hair pulling experience) at some point (hopefully sooner than later). I would like to see the bots in tactical mode by the next beta release but I can't promise anything on that unless another coder jumps in and helps me (and I pray that he or she does).

Does Quake 3 really need to be optimized for low end systems? Even my old Socket A system with a Radeon 9600 basic would run Q3A @ 1600x1200, and that was medium end even in 2003.

Iv'e been working hard on new game code and have some neat things ready for you all! I also have new fx stuff for mappers so if you would like to make maps or contribute to this mod in any other way please contact me. Idolator is almost through with his new map and I am redoing my map aw_complex and making it better. Check out our website for updates and news.

He will be doing the mapping from now on and he showed me some screenies of what he has in mind and it's already looking good! Thankyou Idolator for joining the team! Now I am getting help from Nightz who is currently coding Spiderman: Dynamic Forces mod for Q3. I can't wait to play this mod!!! Looks fantastic! He has guided me in several area's of the Q3 code and how to program certain things. He has a firm grasp of coding!!! Thanks to Nightz for your help. Well hopefully the new Beta will be released soon but no scheldule when it might be released. Please be patient with us while we get this mod back up and running and I thank everyone for their support!

This is one of the most kick arse Mods that I never heard about. This mods isn't anything revolutionary, it's just well presented and fun to play at LAN.
