Shock your System with Mods!
With the release of the new System Shock Enhanced Edition (Sourceport Update) by Nightdive Studios, the world for easy to install, activate and deactive mods for the game became a reality. There will be more mods coming in the future.
Just download the SS1Mod of your desire, unzip its content into the "%APPDATA%\Nightdive Studios\System Shock EE\mods" directory. Then simply start the game, open the Modifications Menu on the title screen and activate or deactivate a mod under the Mods tab.
And everone that wants to use the mods with previous versions of the game, listen up: You can do that too! Because every mod that gets released on the modpage will come with a variation of files that can be used to replace their originals. But make sure to make a backup of the original files first before you replace them. ;)

SS1MOD Pack #1 Content

This first Mod Pack consists out of 4 simple starter mods to change or to further enhance your experience with System Shock. There will be more mods coming in the future. System Shock holds a special place in my heart - so great to see such nuanced little tweaks made.
One thing that always felt underwhelming to me was the bareboned on-screen appearance of weapons.
I still hope someone with the know-how will find a way to grab some assets from the build engine games or other some such, and give system shock a more dignified 'hand holding a gun' visuals, instead of the sad little blob of pixels representing all of its armaments ;)
