The Northern Excursion mod (once called the "Extreme Realism" mod) is a game-enhancement mod that introduces a new faction, the "North American Coalition" (NAC), re-introduces the jet fighter/bomber air vehicle types from Battlefield 2 and also brings back old features which were left out of the original Battlefield 2142 such as stationary machine guns, visual effects, unused voice overs and more.
Rather than having a remix of the BF2 theme for the main menu (which we requested to use), we've decided to make our own main menu song.
Got inspiration from the C&C Tiberian Sun - Main Menu music and the soundtrack from DEFCON. The background noises are supposed to sound like the interior of a titan, as if you're waiting to go to battle. It loops aswell.

This one is intresting. But the old one was also very cool, i hope you use it somewhere.
Kind of dull and depressing.
Kind of the point, war is depressing.
True, but gameplay isn't :P
When you're surfing through the main menu, you're not really in the actual game yet, you're just waiting till you join a server. :)
Besides, if you really hate the song you can replace it with another .ogg audio file in the "Sound_Client" folder, such as the vanilla 2142 main menu music if you want to. Atleast I think you can do this. You might get trouble with non-custom content allowing servers, I don't know. Might want to make a backup copy of the Sound_Client folder if it doesn't work properly.
This is really mood setting, good job Jin.
That's it!!, guys this is really really the atmosphere that the menu music should have!, mysterious, depressing (the war is, just like you said Jinzor), and feels kinda apocalyptic, but I think it should have a bit more back-sounds like soldiers talking or the explosions of the anti-titan missiles, and the end of the sound shouldn't be so sudden... anyways, it has the perfect touch!. And you don't feel like, Hell yeah!! war!!, you feel most like, war never changes,... (fallout 3 phrase in the intro video).
The mood is perfect, and I'd keep how the overall music starts to build (and reverse the build up at the end so the ending and looped beginning can transition better) but add some semblance of an actual musical score.
In-all, the current feel is just right, it just needs a little more to spice it up. (Not liven it up, mind you - the mood should stay just the way it is) but make it more "Menu Music" and not "Menu Background Noise".
Hopefully that's understandable enough..
A musical tone comparable to "Room of Angel" by Akira Yamaoka would be perfect, by my estimation.

Another perfect example for comparison would be "Sun's Gone Dim" by Johann Johannsson.

The overall sadness that the musical score portrays is bittersweet and perfect for a "War never changes..." feeling.
Great criticism and suggestions, I will probably make a slightly longer version later and take these ideas into account. :)
All those litle in-game sounds make you think of moments in the game. This music is depressing, the way war is.
