Over all pretty damn awesome. Being a massive Stalker fan I'm very interested in the many similarities between HL2's pre-Combine portal storm period and Stalker's Zone. Would love to see more mods in this vein.

Impressed with your take on it anyway. (Small nitpick though - now the Vort are free of the Nihilanth's control why are they still aggressive?)

My only real annoyance is John's voice. Never found the cheese to go with the whine. ;)

As for anomolies, I think it can be done. HL does have environmental hazards, fire, electricity, radiation, poison water etc. I'm sure that clever placement of those plus scripted stuff like explosions in areas they cant return to could give some illusion of anomoly effects. And there must be one skilled coder in the community who can get the real thing. Without anomolies it just isnt Stalker imo.

Last point as this is getting a bit epic, artifacts. People have managed to code in new weapons accessable through the weapon inventory. Artifacts could be made to work the same way with maybe 3 or 4 different artifacts available.

Just a few things that occured to me after reading the feedback anyway.

I'm a huge fan of the Stalker games and think a HL spin on that could be a lot of fun.

Announcing this with nothing much to show for it was a bad move though. It encouraged all the trolling which meant I had to wade through a lot of bullcrap to find uselful info.

That clip of some guy blowing up a wall, crawling into a small room and hitting a corpse does not evoke the atmosphere of the Stalker games. At all. IMO you should ditch that till you have something more obviously evocative of Stalker.

The people saying Stalker and HL2 are nothing alike are showing their ignorance of the HL2 back story. The world during the period between the Black Mesa incident and the arrival of the Combine, (early 2000s up to 2011) was virtually identical to the Zone on a worldwide scale. 'Portal storms', Xen lifeforms appearing all over, the populace fleeing to the cities leaving areas abandoned etc.

For this to be a true TC it MUST be playable single player. Stalker worked best with you, alone, getting rained on, low on ammo, starving and trying to stay alive.

As for Source vs X-ray. Well X-ray sucks at water features compared to Source. Stalker cheated to make areas seem big and open, remember all those stupid fences? Zones like Yantar were actually fairly small and compact. Some areas of HL seemed fairly big once you got out of the city. Just a case of clever level design, obscuring line of sight with hills, building, rocks etc and breaking bigger areas up with short load sections. No biggie IMO.
