They fit the evil aspect of the Empire but not really their design aspects look at how simple everything else they have is, the IDT is just to overdesigned for them.
Honestly the vanilla one isn't even that bad it's only bad when you assume vehicles should look similar to others in their series when real life directly contradicts that many times.

I don't really have a problem with the ai but it seems certain things are kinda ********, like in certain battles as the Rebellion I notice my fighters getting slaughtered from victory cruisers and considering how many the ai uses it makes fighters basically pointless.
LAAT has a larger height scale, makes more sense as the soldiers can stand up in it easier meaning they take up less room than if they were sitting down.

Considering what he said maybe he means the AI sometimes deploys more than the limit the player has in battle for example you can only have a limit of 40 and the AI deploys units which add up to 50 or so, maybe?

One thing I have a problem with is buzz droids, they make droid fighters too effective where they slaughter larger forces with ease simply because they do to much damage to Republic ships I often have the AI disable even the shields of a Venator just by spamming buzz droids over it.
I have that problem as the Rebellion, before I can make anything I'm spammed by fleets of ISD's and other ships that the starting units can't fight against.
