My first thought: Where did the 2D go!
I really like 2D and I especially like the pixel art, which you seemed to be making in great detail ( even your 3D models looked like pixel art ). I also like the challenges and the solutions to making open worlds in side-scrolling 2D. They always surprise me.
But after looking at the image for some time I saw that you kept some of the old style ( The pixel art ). And a game like this would fit a 3D world.
So I got in doubt. Whatever you do is fine, because they both look amazing. You should just keep it in this "pixel art"-y style.
And if you decide to keep it in 3D, just make sure it isn't becoming just another 3D game.
Keep at the good work! I hope you make the right decision!
This looks fantastic. The reflection really makes a difference!
This looks amazing!
I really like the sails, but also the water that splashes up, when the boat is hit!
It's amazing how smooth it looks! Is it physics based or animated?
The canon looks awesome! And the debris even more so!
Is the debris made in 3D?
I LOVE the sword trail, and of course we should have guns! :D
This looks much better. In comparison the top one now almost looks like foggy weather.
Keep it up!
Looks awesome so far! :)
Are you going to work on cannons and more combat next?
Because that would make the game much more enjoyable already!
Or have you something else in mind?
Turning into a skeleton is at least easy to notice. You are never in doubt about being dead. But for the moment it seems like you can still move, when being a skeleton, but I guess that that will change xD Maybe the skeleton will sink slowly to the bottom if in the water?
This looks awesome :D
This looks awesome!
Simple, but easy to understand :D
This looks amazing :D Nice to see that you have progress :)
Sound very interesting indeed. What language are you coding in?
Does the campfire have any function in the game or is it just for the looks?
So are all ships going to be made in 3D from now on?
I'm looking forward to see the galleon with masts! It will look awesome! :D
Seems like you have a plan!
And I love the games you mentioned too, so I will definitely follow this project to see where you will take it! :D
This looks AMAZING! Is the ship made in 3D or is it animated on turning?
This is probably zoomed in a little too far, but it is a neat idea! :D
Neat fighting system ( as far as I can tell ) and the people going red upon being hit makes the system easier to understand ( from your pictures here ).
Amazing music you got there!
So far this looks awesome!
Also, do you plan on keeping the screen size so low, or would you make options for people to choose from?
Everything looks pretty neat so far!
And I am looking forward to see how you will create the AI. Maybe you could explain that in one of your posts?
It looks nice so far! :D
And you changed the transition! It looks great!
By the way that transition is made it seems kind of out of place if you wanted to interact with stuff on different layers ( for instance shooting at a ship in the distance ), but maybe you just made the player need to shift layer to interact with things on a specific layer?
But the transition still looks neat, though! xD
Have you tried making the transition with black?
Is this hand animated?
And the layer idea is not so bad, if it is implemented correctly. But I guess you will figure out a nice way to make it work with content properly!
I can't wait to try it all out and possibly return with some feedback!
You fixed it and it looks awesome! :D
But it looks like the height of the water is changing when going up and down, like the water raises when you go up for instance...
But it still looks amazing :D
It looks awesome! :D
Would the ships look exactly the same from that angle, if they are made of voxels? Because your ships look awesome!
