While I know I haven't worked on it in a while I don't think this mod will die. I will always come back to the idea and work on it and Source will be around for a long time so there is no big deadline. In those famous words it will be released When It's Done.
FYI I have been making TF2 maps lately so my mapping skills are improving.
This mod has been a huge learning experience for me. I've been teaching myself along the way how to do whatever needs to be done. Its taken a lot of time (when I have any extra) and study to get this far and I know it will take more, but I love doing it. I would map and mod all day long if I didn't have to pay for rent and food.
I guess what I'm saying is that - while the mod might go off the map every now and then - I have every bone in my body wanting to complete it and that will never change,.
I've been putting off an answer to these questions for a while to think about what you are actually asking. I think that there will be semi-real world events. I would not go as far as saying that we are trying to start something. We are trying to show things that could happen in the right/wrong circumstances, but more so we are trying to entertain.
We are very glad we have Fred on our side.
Yeah, Breen is a placeholder.
All of those guys are rendered in the game engine.
Oh and glad the mod won't be C&D'd!
It looks great!
The blood looks good. Even zombies will have blood/chunk splater when you shoot/cut/hit them. There is stuff in the way of the bullet/knife/object and it has to go some place.
You are right about the blood squirting out of limbs or where limbs were, That would not happen with zombies.
Of course this is just speculation unless anyone has ever killed or witnessed a zombie killing.
Good use of shadows and light reflection.
Needs more blood.
Like this Garry.tv
Then it is perfect!
Welcome to the jungle!
This reminds me of the South Park where Butters is informed after he does anything that "Simpsons did it!" first.
There are very few original ideas left. So you take a few that you already know and twist and pull until you get one that seems new.
There is a reason people (including myself) like Valve games. They are good. They are not just mindless shooting or jumping puzzles or key pass searches. They include interesting story and make the characters have character.
Also I don't know how anyone could think Valve is just popping out games to ride the wave of HL1's or HL2's popularity. You must have forgotten that they took the time to make Source. If they had planned tojust make a lot of money they would have wrapped some crap in a shinny box and sold it. But they didn't, they made quality games that people enjoy playing.
I admit that some of their concepts never made their games. The Hydra in HL2 for example. That's what happens when games get displayed when still WIPs.
When you guys see something cool, twice a month. Not only so I don't miss them (don't see them) but also so they don't lose their value.
I bet this has something to do with the mod showcase.
Archive them only have a check box to include them in the search or not. I agree with both ambershee and BigBird but, (and i feel very strongly about this but) any changes can still be made to the mod's profile. Example: The owner can change the mods status from "dead", at which point the mod will be moved off of the "dead" list and back to the "live" list. Maybe after a 1/2 year without any update mods are automaticaly placed there.
This bridge wouldn't happen to be the one in the HL2:EP2 Trailer? Would it?
I love the drivabe APC.
But, you guys love that shiny metal texture don't you? Change it up a little more. My eyes wil thank you.
CD was great. I think having a larger squad is a great idea. To fix the problem with them in small areas, you could have them break off in different areas to hold the positions or for their own missions. Or they could all die in an explosion. Your choice. lol
It's not important, but remove the "http://" from the steam media link to get it to work.
A ModDB Expo should include something where the Pros come and hold "How To..." events for their game engines in addition to the Mods being on display and other things. I'd hit that!
Chicken was before egg on the list therefore the chicken came first. Problem solved.
Damn I just had to end up the one to push it to two pages.
Didn't some early fps games like Duke Nukem have feet? Or was that a different 2D sprite filled 3D world?
Just like WARGAMES (that is where your intro quote came from right). Sounds cool.
Also duckedtapedemon got another quote from the same movie.
So, I guess you have to get the computer to play tic-tac-toe until it finds that out the only way to win is not to play at all.
Pull up your pants. I mean a phong on a chick is cool, but just not for guys.
Looks good, keep it up, I need more mods to play.
Strictness is fine by me just don't go ban-happy. ( Like one forum for a sandbox mod that I frequent allot. Heres a hint: they have an autoban)
Somewhat based on "1984", but also many other things including actual history (not unlike "1984").
Plus it all takes place in the half-life universe.
I think that a physics card is a good idea, but it will only benefit a few gamers.
Also a dedicated physics card will allow the cpu to do much more for ai.
The only problem with ai is that it is not intelligent. It does the checks you told it to, then does the calculations you told it to, then it does the tasks you told it to for that calculations answer. If you don't tell it what to do it won't do it.
I vote 'Adventure game - throw in tough puzzles' because...
A: 'Thinking tactical game's are ultra-realistic
B: 'Stuff thinking... give me something to shoot' games are unrealistic
C: I get bored fast and love challange
To sum up I pick Adventure game.
Hey, thanks for the watch.
We have alot of things planned for . Right now we are mapping away.
