Hey Eyaura, long time G-String fan here. I've literally been following this project when the first couple trailers for the mod came out!
Loved playing the game and I'm looking forward to the big future update, take your time and no stress.
Just wanted to ask a few little questions as a fan.
When the definitive update is released will there be an option under betas to revert back to the previous release version? Would really suck if it's completely replaced.
Will we see any more remade maps from the mod or even the Day One version? As much as I loved the game, I really missed some of the rooftop maps from the mod, the game felt like it really lacked maps that show the city from above. I loved noticing some of the remade mod maps in the game version, there's some really good ones you could add back in. I especially miss the part where you cross the river and the level where you climb the skyscraper.
Finally, any chance of a Linux port in the future? I really wanted to try this on Steam Deck but sadly it's a no go due to the lack of Linux support.

Peace

Those colours are beautiful! Hyped for the next update, take all the time you need for it. Will we see any new maps, weapons or perhaps some new enemy types?

Does this fix the bug where using Matoro's zoom in makes the screen go black? I tried playing my disc on windows 10 and I couldn't fix that glitch.

I'm crossing my fingers we get to see an updated version added to the addons section of the new enhanced edition. It would be great to potentially play it with split and online coop.

I played the mod when it first came out and I loved the game even more. Honestly I think you should consider changing the title, it's definitely the problem. Nobody is going to take the name G-String seriously, no matter how good the game is. No professional gaming sites are going to want to publish articles or make videos about something called G-String. The same goes for many bigger YouTubers. It isn't the kind of name that attracts good attention, it just alienates people.

Just wanted to give some constructive criticism on the new update.
In no way am I trying to bash you or anything cuz I do really like the game, just giving my thoughts.
So in general I do think a good deal of the level adjustments work really well. The greater focus on holographic wall panels and interactive objects definitely adds some more life to all those corridors. The gradual improvements to path finding are also a welcome change for many I'm sure, even though I never found the level design to be overly confusing personally.

However I do think in many cases, specially in the earlier chapters, you've gone way too overboard in cramming as much detail and objects into the environments as possible. It goes back to the whole design by subtraction philosophy, where more doesn't always equal better.
Many of the new additions make the environments feel cluttered in a way that doesn't blend with the overall scene composition and atmosphere. The best example of this I've found so far is the beginning of bot camp where you cross over the toxic waste. These newly added thick black cables reach across the sky as some kind of static obstruction to the scene. Instead of adding to the overall immersion, they sick out badly as they really pull your eyes away from the rest of the scene, coming of as more of a graphical error than actual sky cables.

Obviously this kind of stuff is always gonna be subjective when finding the balance between level design and visual presentation. At the end of the day you should do what you feel is right. Just giving some feedback.

On a final note I'd really love to see full controller suport for the eventual C-cup update.

Keep up the good work.

After the update every map is stuck in wire frame mode. Plus the developer console doesn't seem to work.
I've tried reinstalling but it didn't change anything.

Honestly if you released this on Steam I would happily buy it to show my support.
Why isn't that possible in the mods current state?

Two separate mutators show up for me, "Unreal/UT: HD Skins Full" and "HDSkinsMut." Which one do I use?

Under the renderer settings for DX11 I don't see anything for useS3TC, but it shows up under DX9 and opengl. Did I install it incorrectly or something?

A fun idea for a new weapon could be a reskin of the bug bait that brings those small flying drones to your side for a bit, maybe hackable turrets too?

Any plans to support full xbox one controller support? I really want to play it via the steam link app.

Or you could just tell me lol? Can't find any settings to disable the watermark. It keeps popping up. Why even include something like this?

Any way to permanently remove the paypal link watermark in the bottom right corner? It's pretty annoying

Very enjoyable overall, much better sense of path finding and visual direction. Some maps are still overly cluttered, which makes navigation confusing at times. I'm sure this is something you worked hard on for the final version.
Loved all the new visual enhancements, the metal city maps in particular look really good. I was wondering if any of these maps remain for the final version, how much will we recognize from the beta?
Grenades were a little annoying to deal with because they lack any visual indicators to spot them, think the red light on hl2 grenades.
The enemy encounters are pretty fun, but I was thinking about how enemy chatter could make them more engaging to fight?
The Slow-mo ability is still useless, something feels off with the timing.
One final question, will the game have full controller support, say if I wanted to use an Xbox One controller and play via steam link?
Really enjoyed playing through Day One overall, I'm sure some of the issues I had have already been addressed.
Can't wait for the final release.

MatthewHardy - - 25 comments @ PROSPECTIVE NAME CHANGE - it is up to you.

G-STRAND sounds perfectly fine.
G-STRING is certainly more unique and catches your attention, but maybe not necessarily in a good way. Its common sense to say that people are just going to associate it with underwear.
The community eventually accepted the name but that doesn't mean it's mass marketable.
Still though, it's pretty entertaining to think about Valve reacting to an application for an FPS game called G-String that runs on their engine.

Might be a random question but do you plan on implementing any kind of controller support? I'm guessing full support like button prompts and other stuff is pretty difficult to code into the game?
Anything big planned for Mod of the Year next month? It's been a long time since we saw any kind of big media update?

Take epic shots, be proud of the amazing work and sell that ****!

I'm very curious to see how all the sound effects and music turned out for the final version, I'm guessing you had to create everything from scratch if you plan on selling the game?

What version of source is this running on now?

Keep up the good work!

Yeah definitely submit it through Steam Direct, enough mods are getting released on Steam these days. Considering its been 11 years and its a full conversion, I think charging a bit of money is completely reasonable.

I've been following this project even before the beta version released, I still remember those original trailers with the ethereal, haunting tone to them. Playing through the beta back in 2011 I found it to be an incredibly immersive, atmospheric experience, your architectural work remains by far some of the best I've ever seen in the source engine.
However, I also remember being extremely frustrated at times by the confusing, almost non-existent level design. The correct path was often overly hidden and it felt like the project was more of an exercise in creating imagery and mood rather than an actual playable game. Still, I found the experience to be more than worthwhile in the end.
I've been looking forward to the final version ever since you announced it, it's crazy to think how many years it's been since the beta version came out. I was wondering how much of the original maps, sound effects and music remains in the final version? I imagine over the years a great deal has changed.
Take all the time you need but as with everyone here I really hope I get to play it soon. You really need to get this released on Steam, as keeping it hidden away on Moddb would be a real same. Lots of other mods seem to be releasing on Steam all the time these days.
Keep up the good work.

Never mind, I found the save file location! Thanks anyways. The mod is great btw.

Actually you can install Arx Libertatis into the 'Steam\steamapps\common\Arx Fatalis' folder and then replace the arx application file with the one from the Liberatis folder. After that you'll able to load liberates through the Library in steam without having to create any new shortcuts. But the saves still don't appear in the game. I copied the save file into the Liberatis folder but no change, and I don't have a 'My Documents\My Games\Arx Libertatis' or a 'Saved Games\Arx Libertatis' location anywhere on my computer, it's all in steam. Windows 7 by the way.

Before I start you should know that I'm using the Steam version of Arx. The previous Liberatis version ran fine.
The problem is that I can't seem to load my 1.0.3 saves in version 1.1; my saves are located in 'Steam\steamapps\common\Arx Fatalis' in the 'Save' folder. Do I have everything in the right directory? Sorry for being so annoying.

Can I carry my saves over from 1.0.3 to 1.1 or do I have to start the game again? I'm using 'Arx Libertatis 1.0.3 Windows Installer (32-bit)'
