MaskedGEEK - - 19 comments @ Alien Isolation BML Converter

You don't open it in the normal way. To edit a BML file, you drag the BML file itself onto the converter tool. The command line box will briefly open then close and after you should see a new file with the same name but with the XML file extension instead. It also converts XML back to BML in the exact same process, drag the XML file to the converter, it'll create a new file called <FILE_NAME>_noconflict.xml (substitute <FILE_NAME> with the name of the actual file, e.g ALIEN_noconflict.XML) and rename it to what the original filename was in your game folder.

Currently working through this custom story but stuck on chapter 2, where you have to combine the rope with something heavy to smash a window to climb up. I've found the rope no problem, but I can't find any other object with which to combine the rope with. All I get is "This object cannot be used that way".

I have a feeling there's something in the only grave there, but the shovel I've found stuck in the mud mound is just that, stuck. The rope was the only highlighted object that can be picked up and placed in the player's inventory. All other objects (except the shovel) are just carried by the player floating in front of them.

Am I missing something?

Would you be willing to come back and update this mod?

The base game Amnesia was last updated a couple of months ago (as of December 21st) but I only found this mod last week. I have read the previous comments and aware of the difficulties the author has had in having idle friendly monsters being invisible.

I have played through Chapter 1 but while I enjoyed it, I was taken out of the scene many times due to the invisible monsters, especially the optional house where you hunt a certain number of gatherers in a set time. I couldn't win that game again because of the invisible monsters bug. As such, as much as I loved what I've seen so far, I'm reluctant to play more in case I miss something important.

Also, at the start of Chapter 2 during the intro cutscene, every single friendly gatherer in the level was loaded and stood standing next to the bed. They couldn't be interacted with nor had any object collision on them.

I have the Steam version of Amnesia TDD which is auto updated, and as of me writing this comment, it has a BuildID of 3234539.

Due to all the asset flipper devs and how Steam's image has taken a beating more than Mike Tyson could ever wish to deal out, I hope you get the attention you deserve to make it noticed on your digital publishing platform of choice.

Devs, I love games like this. A perfect mix of horror and puzzle. I know this is only a demo and may not be representative of the final game but from what I've played in this demo I'm hooked. Absolutely brilliant. Graphics are amazing, how the puzzle elements fall into place gel really well, but the sounds, music and overall ambiance is thrilling. I can't wait for the full game to be released. I've done a playthrough of the demo (as of July 26th 2017) which I hope you like.

I'd be really interested in how you're going to tackle the gunship fight towards the end of Water Hazard. Without the airboat if you're going to keep the gunship fight in, you'd either need a way for the player to be hide from the gunship's fire, or give the player the homing RPG early.

Man I'm really disappointed you've decided to scrap this project, though I understand as I've watched your vlog video to explain it. I do love a good story to a game and was hoping this game would release to find out what happened to the protagonist. Let's hope your next project(s) get the attention and funding they deserve. :)

Oh I can't wait for the update to come through. I was still majorly impressed with the demo I played. I must warn you though that if I end up making a mess playing your game, I'm sending you the dry cleaning bill. Lol. This is an epic horror game.

MaskedGEEK - - 19 comments @ Computer Repair Simulator

This is a great concept simulator. While I normally play horror games, I've been building my own home computers for a good 16+ years so like to think I know my stuff. As such I decided to try this game for my channel (video here ➢ Youtu.be). I wasn't sure to expect a realistic simulator (akin to Euro Truck Simulator) or a tongue-in-cheek "simulator" like Goat Simulator. After playing for around 30 minutes I definitely feel this leans towards a realistic sim instead of being a pseudo sim for the sake of just calling it a simulator.

There are a fair few bugs as you'd expect an early access game to be, with the worse for me being the camera controls, however for my channel I didn't real the controls and just jumped straight in for the sakes of the video. After a while I did get to understand the controls but it was still fiddly. Saying that though, since doing my video the developer has said they've focused on the gameplay as a proof-of-concept first.

Repair jobs are limited to a motherboard and components directly attached to the motherboard only, such as RAM, CPU and the various connector headers that you'd use to plug devices into, though hopefully more content will come through maybe even extending right up to building a full PC and fitting it into a variety of PC cases.

In it's current form I can give it a 9 out of 10. It does miss on the final point though as, again as I've mentioned the dev has focused on the concept not the camera control, the camera control is far too fiddly. This is very good and I can also see educational value in this to be able to teach newbie tech-heads how to get into PC building on a basic level.

Good job.

Holy crap. When I first downloaded this mod I was expecting only around 2 to 3 hours of gameplay. I am so wrong. I've lost count but I'm easily 6 hours into the mod making my way through Chapter 1, and the attention to detail is phenomenal. Ok I haven't completed it yet but from what I've played so far I can easily give it a high score.

The main selling point is how realistic it is to drop enemies with a headshot. Txthe has gone to great lengths to achieve this and the earlier levels before Chapter 1 begins really made me feel like a SWAT officer.

Currently got a playlist going on my channel here Youtube.com but is currently unfinished due to how long the mod is. The house is especially creepy and made me jump more than a few times. Chapter 1 hasn't so much made me jump, but it has kept me on edge. Couple of downers though, the voice acting is hit-and-miss but is mostly hit, though you can tell in some parts where the actors are clearly trying to emote, but fail badly. Other times it's clichéd but fun, and other times very well done. However like Metal Gear Solid there are parts where there is nothing but talk, and unlike MGS, you can't skip it either.

Still thoroughly playable and an absolute must to play since it's free. Given it's length though, you could easily be it's own game if the dev had the licences and resources to build it, and would happily have paid around $15 to $20 for it.

Well done to an awesome mod Mxthe. 9 out of 10.

MaskedGEEK - - 19 comments @ Lunacy: Saint Rhodes

So this is interesting. When I came across this demo the pictures immediately drew me to this. Being intrigued I asked the dev for a copy of the demo and he promptly provided (thanks Craedon).

The theme I get from the demo is that there is something in the house with you, an etherial spirit of some kind, which seems to only be malevolent should the player try to leave the house (this aspect isn't implemented in the demo but you get the story reading the notes scattered around the house). However playing through I didn't really feel as though there was anything watching over me. I don't know, maybe I've played too many horror games now but I just didn't feel it.

What it does excel on though is overall horror ambience. The storm outside the house adds a (albeit clichéd) good touch of "it's all going to sh*t" kinda feeling, especially if you crank up the volume then a brutally loud thunderclap happens (as it did a couple of times in my play through).

Everyone has their own fears and for me, going into the bedroom and through the closet wasn't frightening, but I did get a quick round of applause as I left.

I know this is only a demo, and there's a good chance it may not represent the final full game when it's released, but so far the demo did blow me away with the graphics and the jumpscares when they happened. It was frustrating at times not knowing where to go to trigger the next jumpscare or story piece, but other than that it is a very good little demo.

It took me around 30 minutes to complete the demo partly due to fumbling around of where to go next, but you could probably complete it in around 15 to 20 minutes if you blasted through it.

Highly recommend and can't wait for the full game. If you want to see my playthrough on my channel, check it out here ► Youtu.be

I did get my own back on the dev though, saying I was disappointed, but only disappointed I hadn't played it sooner (sorry man, couldn't help myself :D ).

What I'd personally recommend to add in the game for that sense of "something might be watching me" horror, paintings could shift, or those with eyes to have them watch where you go, a flicker of the ethereal antagonist here and there before the main reveal, whispers, or blood to appear on some walls only when lightening strikes and lights up the room. Just some suggestions.

If anyone does grab a copy of the demo I'd highly recommend not to watch anybody's video to avoid spoilers.

Now I gotta go as I can hear someone clanking in the kitchen. But wait, it's just me and my kids and their with me in the living room. Hold on whilfdka;lshfu

I can't run this game. Don't have a clue why. At first it starts up ok, but usually around when I reach the door with the chain and have to search for something the game freezes. I've tried recording it for my channel first using Nvidia's Shadowplay then AVerMedia Live Gamer HD capture card in case it was my recording software screwing it, but nope. Game freezes each time at the same place.

My PC specs are:
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1,600MHz
HDD: 2 x Samsung EVO 850 256GB SSD (in RAID 1 for OS) and 1 x 3TB Western Digital HDD (for the games)
CPU: Intel i5 3470 3.2GHz (not overclocked and cooled by Corsair Hydro H100i)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 3.5GB (Gigabyte G1 Gaming Edition)
Mobo: ASRock Z75 Pro 3 (BIOS fully updated)

Please help. I really want to play this for my channel.
Kind regards

MaskedGEEK - - 19 comments @ Slender: The Haunted Metro

This is a beautiful Slender remake. The game itself wasn't all that scary but you can't blame that on the developer. I'd personally say it's not scary for me because of 2 things:
1) The whole "Slenderman" hype has calmed down since the original 8 Pages game got released, and
2) I've played a fair few horror games on my channel now and some really have made me yelp like an injured dog.

That being said, this is utterly gorgeous to play in UE4 and Slender did get the jump on me a couple of times. I feel the developer could've used some other sound effects in the main menu rather than ripping them straight from Silent Hill but other than that this is a very well recommended game.

It's basically the original 8 Pages game but with modern graphics, a new location and a bit of a story for the protagonist. A worthy successor to the original.

You can see my playthrough here ► Youtu.be.

Hi Mr Brax,

I did a full playthrough over on my channel. Ultimately I LOVE this game. Only problem is due to an error of my recording software in the last part don't expect to see the ending you'll wish to see, but I do like the ending. Really made me jump.

I'd say though the mod needs more ambient horror to give the player constant dread of that "something" watching over them, lurking in the shadows somewhere, or how you expertly managed to change the environment, make the shadow mess with the player's vision. Seeing something move in the corner of their vision before disappearing. Just a thought.

There's a couple of issues I want to point out and so as not to spoil those who haven't played it I won't list them here (theres only a couple so nothing major to worry about). You can either watch the videos (in 5 parts) or message me direct.

Overall the horror is very much present, excellent use of the environment, very good plot to it. In it's current build I certainly would recommend it to others and hugely encourage them to download it. You say it's not polished which it does show in the odd place or so but other than that I'd easily mistake this for a completed and playable mod. Well done. :D

Hi,

I've done a video on my channel here ► Youtu.be

I hope you're still working on this game as the ambient horror is good however the game geometry, clipping and bad placement of objects means Unity struggles to render the map.

My PC is powerful enough to run games like GTA 4, The Forest, Banished, Crysis, Alien Isolation at 1,920 x 1,080p with most of the GPU effects turned on and run on average 30-40fps no problem. Only Dying Light and Evolve will probably tax my rig really hard. Yet this game, even setting the graphics to it's simplest settings to favor speed over quality, and running at 640 x 480 pixels, the game barely gets above 5fps.

This makes it very nearly impossible to play so please fix this if you're still working on it.

Please don't take my criticisms too harshly as they are intended to be constructive to help you work out the bugs.

Kind regards

MaskedGEEK - - 19 comments @ MINER'S PARANOIA

Hi Christos, I downloaded the game for my gaming channel on YouTube. I can't give this a score as of yet as this is an Alpha build. I've come across some issues in this game which I hope either gets fixed for the Beta release or at the very least fixed altogether. Hopefully you're still working on this game and as such I would love to play this again once it gets updated.

Biggest criticisms are same sound effects for the creatures, plus their size in the mines, and no ambient lighting in the game world.

However I do like the maps and textures used and, if you can implement lighting the creatures would look more terrifying.

Also towards the end of my video I couldn't progress any further. I don't know if this a bug in the game or if it's the end of the game due to it's Alpha build. Because of this that is the reason why, just now, I can't submit a score.

Please see my video on my channel here: Youtu.be

If the game doesn't end where my video does, can you let me know how to get past the door? If the game is more complete than this, even in it's current form, I'd be happy to do another video for you and then give a rating.

Kind regards

Hi Bboy Avon. Downloaded your game and played it to the end (though I didn't get what I was wishing for). I've started a gaming channel which is nearly a year old now so if you want to see my playthrough, please visit:

In my experience of horror games, jump scares are good but the ambience is better. I don't want to say too much in case it spoils it for other people who want to play this but if you watch my video I have a couple of recommendations at the end of what could be done to improve your game.

Don't get me wrong though, I couldn't made a game to save my life and your game is better than some others I've played (still yet to go up on my channel though).

I've rated your game 6/10, again I've given good and bad points in my video review. I'd definitely play this again if you improve this.

I'm doing a playthrough of this game over on my YouTube channel. First impressions are good but I don't like the lack of an options menu, this makes reading some text hard. Not to mention it's VERY dark. Found 2 doors in the shadows by pure luck.

Not sure if this is an engine issue or not and whether this is correctable, but I use DxTory to record gameplay and while recording, once the player has passed the prologue, the game crashes every time while recording with DxTory but when I'm not recording, chapter 1 loads no problem.
