I always pictured and hoped a small fleet of some frigates, cruisers and a star destroyer with their fighters being a "threat". The amount of ships this game has required so far is really tiring, not to mention its effect on performance. Nice to see emphasis being on "meaningful smaller scale".

That's not how the game mechanics work. Battles are very static, like 18th century naval warfare. Once in range, ship stops and shoots.

I really miss Homeworld II's more dynamic looking battles (with mods):( hopefully new one will get same quality mods as the original version.

One solution (to the "fighter spam" performance problem) would be submod which previous version had, which reduces the amount of fighters per squadron while buffing the rest = less objects flying around, but same effectiveness.

I like the scale. I dont want any more "torpedo cruiser firing torps that are as big as the ship firing those" nonsense or scaling up because people are lazy to zoom in.

Off topic but somewhat related... 99% of sins "lets plays" I have seen dont even watch the space battles, all they stare is the map and then they macro the **** out of this game. How dull. I'm sure they would like ships as large as planets, ha.

I agree with this 100%, it's almost impossible to tell where my fleet is or where's the attack that was announced. I dont recall what's been said about the UI when it comes to development. Just "fyi" kind of feedback.

I have the DLC's so I can't be 99,9% sure, but I think mods use those features (or similar effects that are based on them) if the player has bought dlcs. So if you dont have those, you just dont have those features but everything else works and no harm done.

Someone who has better knowledge can naturally correct me if I'm wrong.

Funny, I played as CIS and found them underpowered as was totally r*ped by other factions (especially empire). I had max fleet size and max amount of lucrehulks and carriers (180 fighter squadrons) = no go. Then I switched to frigate spam, and started to gain *some* ground.

Like GoaFan77 said, people asking for more starfighters are rare :P see the optional submods in other mods for smaller fighter squadrons and you can see the reasoning of modders there. The lag is reality in this game, as is the fact that it's mostly caused by starfighters. Long campaign, many players, large fleet sizes --> game slows down gradually.

"Buy better PC", well isn't that a new argument. Of course. I updated my PC a year ago and I can assure you it's a high quality one (cost me about 1400€ without monitor). I'm just saying that there's pretty much no need for larger squadrons in my opinion, as people already complain about not seeing _frigates_ or _cruisers_ due to the scale! So how about seeing those microscopic fighters then?

It's fair to say that it all comes down to why INCREASING performance is better than DECREASING it.

You are practically asking for CTD or at least late game lag with that request. Star fighters are one reason for lag and the problem is even more highlighted since the AI loves to spam carriers. Besides, you can barely see them if you play competitively.

I would like to see the amount _reduced_ to 1 fighter/squadron in order to increase performance and avoid lag/stutter in large fleet size battles.

Wasn't that ship originally a luxury cruiser...? Maybe it's just for the looks, or some "sightseeing" thingies. Dunno why keep the "fin" when it was transformed into a warship but hey, majority of SW ship designs defy common sense ;)

Three options, really, with 99% certainty that fix the problems. First two relates to reading the installation instructions.

1) Does your enabledmods.txt-file look like this?

2) Have you enabled LAA?

3) Checksum with Enhanced 4X 1.75 is 177735502 (from GoaFan77)

If there are still problems, try downloading the mod again. Might be a bugged file that causes it. Missing textures implies that some of the resources are (d'oh!) missing. I once had this when a mod I used came in two parts and I typed one of the names wrong in the EnabledMods.txt, and it naturally missed half of the mod thanks to that error.

Considering the lag caused by the immense number of fighters, are there going to be a submod like in SOGE & Ascendancy which reduces the amount of fighters/squadron and just buffs the remaining ones? AI loves to "spam" fighter carriers in the mods I have played...

I know many say "it's canon that there are many fighters, dont remove them!" but gameplay usually comes first. Fighters seriously hamper down performance in Sins.

Dunno about specific ship types presented in books, but I highly recommend Timothy Zahn's Thrawn books: the Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command) in addition to (I haven't read these yet but I intend to) The Hand of Thrawn serie (two books) and the latest Thrawn book, Outbound Flight (published in 2006).

Thrawn serie kinda... fits this mod I think :P
