Don't forget the time constraints. Not only do they more or less have to release close the movie to cash in on the brand. But also because otherwise EA doesn't have any competitor for CoD.
I think the biggest reason to exclude space combat is that they want to cater to every player. So the vehicle guys would not have anything to play with up there and not everyone likes flying etc.
I'm also wondering about the flight ceiling on the maps and what happens when you get to close to them. The BF games have shown that DICE still can't do them decently.
I can understand Enderal, as the team is well known for their past work and they keep a constant stream of updates all around the web.
I am the king on the other hand. Way less visits and followers here on ModDB, and their official forum/website isn't very big either (especially if you include the fact that it is a general Elder Scrolls fansite and not one strictly based on the mod)
Have to agree with the comments here. Origin/EA being the sponsor is kind of wrong. Pretty much every one of their franchises who have been modable in the past are now closed environments. Some even to a degree where it becomes ridiculous (SimCity anyone?)
Didn't mind Alienware sponsoring in the past, or even Crytek who also support the community and offer an editor/SDK.
Somehow I can't believe you guys couldn't find a more suiting sponsor.
Good luck to all the mods though
Ok, didn't know they brought in Linux support for it. Still, they could have done it even without changing the format.
Just because they converted it into this new file/update format... For a game this old (with only minor engine updates, if at all) this was really not necessary.
Read the Honorable Mentions to know why....
While the lens flare looks nice I'm not so sure about that smudge effect on the screen itself that reflects it. Doesn't really fit to the 3rd person perspective IMO.
Other stuff looks great though.
"Looks like Far Cry 3 is going to feature a map editor similar to Far Cry 2, based on information which has been leaking out."
Was actually confirmed long ago but Ubisoft didn't release more than a general FAQ about it. Pretty odd that they decided not to include it in the marketing effort.
lol, they should have seen this coming
Greenlight is a mess right now. They should have beta tested this first (like Valve normally does) to get some feedback.
Wait a minute, 72 players limit on the japanese server? So after BF2 someone got rid of the limit in BF42 also? Neat.
Haven't played in a while so this is new to me.
Read Fhpubforum.warumdarum.de for more details
Quite the surprise that the announce and release are so close together. Almost no time to spread awareness
You should enable Ambient Occlusion so objects look less floaty
Oh, didn't bother to check the section, lol. Thanks
Can you upload to Moddb plz?
Not allowed to watch the vid from germany due to stupid GEMA
And not only BF. Even now AAA games have that popping up gras and vegetation in the distance. Footage I've seen from Skyrim for example indicate this quite a lot (I know this is not a competitive game but it looks really odd when you walk across a field and the grass just pops-in in a radius around you)
Until I see their revamped animation system (which they say isn't implemented in the footage seen yet) I stay sceptical.
Somehow I doubt there will be a huge improvement from Arma 2 and I've really had enough of the clunky, undetailed and sometimes missing animations. It's been like that since the first OFP.
(And I don't count ragdoll as a major innovation)
Is it actually still possible to play MP after EA shut the server down?
Man, ****** GEMA. Still not ready. Best upload it to Moddb
I guess the "no mods" thing is partly because the whole game is forced online now. I'm no fan of it but otherwise I can see someone playing offline, somehow cheat and put major loot in his inventory, get back online again with the cheat deactivated and sell that stuff in the auction house.
Infantry was mentioned a bit in the first part.
Also check the changelog for some of the minor details.
I think the removal of the crosshair will get rid of most easy close-distance quick-shots for riflemen.
Oh yeah, those invisible explosions, annoying stuff. Great fixes in the new version
I'm happy with the crosshair change and excited to experience the new movement physics.
Just hope there will be a patch version available
Why the outrage? He said "as of now" so that's pretty much the same statement as before. They don't plan it at this moment which is understandable as they have to finish the game first.
(Crytek also didn't deliver the editor on day 1)
I don't have high hopes myself but this new statement doesn't differ from the older ones.
Great work guys and a big thanks to Lucasfilm/Arts for not shutting it down (always important to mention ;) )
Already saw the update on the site. Nice stuff.
My favorite scenario is finally coming :)
This is going to be my favorite update yet. Love the BotB scenario.
Would love to see a map with dense mist
I hope the "revamped animation system" isn't just an empty promise.
As it still is the same base engine I doubt there will be huge improvement
Gonna buy when its a budget title cause like always the release is probably gonna be buggy as hell
I like the concept of 4
