You have to apply a texture to the model, in the modeling program, otherwise it skips the mesh when exporting-check the file size of the model smd compared to the animation.

Sure but if the skybox is visible the map should be too, make a night skybox. Even if it is a horror game, you still need more light than a flashlight, otherwise there is no point in making detailed maps

Yea the minigun was suprisingly low...i learned modeling mostly myself but it really took off when reading 3dsmax 7 tut book and "Creating a weapon for source series"( its on moddb! ) that taught me mostly polygonal modeling but then i found my own way to do things, i didnt like that guy's style...heres a link:

i guess you use 3dsmax? if so select all the polys, click "clear all" then click "autosmooth" if that looks bad then change the smooth amount and do the steps above

its completly different looking (probably due to colour) but i have the original gameboy colour and pokemon red, it looks different to me but also this mod is based on 1st gen so it would be fitting to go for it.
