Thanks man! It was a tough decision, but I personally feel like it was the right one to make. Things were setting us back left and right, it was better to shed it and move on than to struggle!

Man, I'm really looking forward to this game! The Battlefront reboot can suck it, this is where it's at!

Do you have any problems with EA or Disney with cease and desists, or anything along those lines?

Unfortunately, due to various reasons, we've decided to cancel Dark Spiral. Unlike Total Decay, Dark Spiral is *cancelled* and not simply put on hold.

Sorry, folks!

Just a tip: You're going to lose on a LOT of potential backers simply because you don't link the Kickstarter page here.

I would recommend tagging "Check out the Kickstarter now" as a link to the Kickstarter page.

Good luck!

Thanks for the comment! That particular model doesn't contain the actual nails, just where they're going to sit.

Feel free to join our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter, we'll be updating there on a more regular basis than on ModDB, since ModDB's News section is only for larger news pieces.

*Please Note*

Total Decay has been cancelled, and all production has been stopped. If we pick up development again, we will update the page, but until then it will remain dormant.

Chalk Aug 1 2013, 5:41pm replied:

The problem is that so many developers get hung over games that will never be made, and I would rather cancel the game now before it becomes an obsession. I thank you for your advice and input, but I don't want to spend 3 or 4 years obsessing over a game that might be a flop. I am in the process of upgrading the models for the game with normal and specular maps, which will make the graphics quality ten times better, and then file it away for when we have enough money to hire programmers. Finding programmers that are willing to work for free is, unfortunately, nearly impossible.

Apart from that, I am personally doing work for indie developers, mostly free, as well as creating free intros for YouTube channels, in an effort to build a portfolio so I can actually go to university and study Game Art.

Chalk Jul 26 2013, 3:07am replied:

I agree completely. As a 3D Modeller, I've joined dozens of "teams" (I use the term lightly, it was usually under-20s calling themselves CEOs of a company) for promise of pay once the game is released, but out of those none of them have ever worked out. Everyone wants to be a game developer, and while not everyone can, they think they can. They don't realise how much money, time and dedication is needed to create them, and they just dive in blind. It's been difficult finding a good team to work with long term.

It was actually the voice actress Jezdamayel, but she was recovering from an illness while recording. She did a phenomenal job.

Also, we're in early developer Alpha in terms of actual gameplay, things that would do more harm than good if it were to be displayed as "in-game screenshots" as we're busy with the foundation for the programming, the core mechanics. After this is finished we will move on to finetuning, bug fixes, closed and eventually open beta.

Uh, you know this is Copyright infringement, right? Mirror's Edge is a registered copyright game, and Mirror's Edge 2 is already in development by the original creators. You could get sued for an ungodly amount of money.

Thanks! You can thank Caliyr Vulpovar for both the name and the logo. We brainstormed for a long time before he came up with the name after randomly saying words together, and he stopped me from using a horrible logo I made myself and made this masterpiece for us!
