I'll wait for Left 4 Dead. :)
As a developer, I easily choose Atmosphere.
It draws you in.
Obviously then you need great gameplay and great maps to keep them there.
Creativity though is a maybe. As long as you can do something and do it right, then you'll get attention.
Unfortunately we do not have bots in the game.
It is on our wish list, but don't expect it anytime soon.
Hey guys,
My name is Brian from the Eternal-Silence mod for Source as well :-)
If you guys get a chance, come over to the IGF booth where we are at GDC and we could have some sort of HL2 mod meet-up.
~Brian
About HDR: Not in this release. We didn't want to bother with doing a bunch of other junk to get it out the door. This will come in our next patch though. What we will release isn't using any of the new features of the new SDK.
About Capitol Ships: In this release they are stationary. There is no captain (and his fate is even being decided internally and we will decide that when we get to that stage).
I hope everyone likes the mod! :D
starwarsfan11: Why don't you just reinstall it?
Oh, and we've been saying for the past few news posts that release was coming soon, so it's not like you didn't know this was coming ;)
vcatkiller: Ironic isn't it :-)
Mars_3K: If you post in our forums, Marc our sound guy will answer your question in there.
Initial release should not have any crashes or any truly MAJOR bugs... There should be as little of those bugs as possible...
Gameplay wise though, that's something that should always constantly be tweaked and those sorts of releases should get released often, get feedback from community, update, rinse, repeat...
Glad to see a UT2k4 version coming, and it would have been a lot better if you guys would have gone UT2k4 first, so you could have competed in the Make Something Unreal contest, but oh well, you didn't have the Source engine to mess around with at that time.
Good luck to you guys though, and we'll miss you on the Source modding scene!

Eternal-Silence
Set up and ready to go for eternal-silence!
kenope: That sounds like us.
We originally had an alpha release for BF1942 engine, so we've been working for a long time. We've been working on the mod before HL2 was even announced! :P
Multiplayer Teamplay :)
I would love to test if there are still keys.
Thanks for the comments guys! :)
Well that's our fault with not releasing enough maps and not enough patches...
It took a LOT longer than anticipated to finish Beta2 but we're close now :) Not too much longer!
We'll win everyone back, I promise! :-)
Mr.Kadish: Well, part of it is that we have to make every single texture you see (down to the little grates and pipes... Heck, even lights :( )
We usually just do a rough draw-up of the texture, put in a pretty decent version to make sure it fits the style (that is what some of those textures are using... a low res version of the final that is used to make sure everything looks good before spending the time to make it high-res)
Thanks for all the comments guys! :)
Yes it does... Well not natively, you have to custom code some physics in (which we just finished), but it is certainly more than capable.
SEVEN new screenshots released guys!
Enjoy!
When you say 'campaign' do you mean single-player?
It's a posibility of course. However, we don't have anything like that planned. Our story writer "X-Ray" has boat-loads of backstory and information in the Eternal-Silence universe so we probably could make a singleplayer portion one day. We want to focus on Multiplayer first though.
*MODDB COMMENTS EXCLUSIVE*
We are working on ideas for a screenshot to release, we want to show the action we commonly get in our current build of the game, show off all the things we've put in :)
We are working on this, so next month sometime you should be able to see the game in action ;)
It's one things that will be tested. Right now we have a sound, it's around Counter-Strike volume, but how we integrate that into the sound engine is another story. We could make it not have a huge sound radius, to make it more quiet. Lots of toys to play with in terms of sound with the Source engine :)
As soon as they fix Co-Op this game will be one of the best, ever :D I played coop one time, it workedd flawlessly, and wow...... It's the most amazing experience :)
Congrats!
Especially to you DTD :D
About the silenced weapon: Eternal-silence.net
Oh and zenarion, we are for Half-Life 2, not Battlefield2.
Normal for me unless I find it's too hard or I've heard it's a hard game, then I put it on Easy.
I don't like doing Hard too much... I just wanna get through the game :P
With the BF2 version, you could have much more detailed models, more realistic physics, and you will have a much larger fan base... They are releasing the editor before the game is released, so you can start porting models from BF1942 to BF2... They said that BF2 will be much easier to mod (have you seen any of those community updates?)
I say if you guys are close, maybe release an alpha/beta and prototype it on BF1942, and then when BF2 is out, you have a lot of that work done already, you have weapon damage settings tweaked, etc etc... It will mean you will be much faster at getting out the door for the BF2 mod scene.
Neat mod.
dar_: Hehe :) We could always use more cookies!
Thanks for the comments guys. You guys keep us motivated through the long hours of work and testing! :D
Woot this is news post 10,000 on ModDB :D
Little shout out to everyone, we are working on getting screenshots out to you soon... Our biggest leap forward has been coding, already had our first build out and such and our second is due out in a few days...
Keep it hush hush ;)
Be sure to post in the forums, we love new people!
