Today, a new community is launched that caters to game texture artists worldwide. A place for tutorials, receiving constructive criticism and hosting a friendly environment for all texture artists, novice and professional, young and old.
Dubbed 'The Haven' by enthusiastic communities looking forward to it's initiation, the forum features tutorials, sketchbooks and critiquing forums, all run by award-winning forum software, phpBB 3.0 Olympus. The lack of content is due to it being online since just yesterday, so I'll leave it to you guys - the future community - to fill up the forums. Aspiring texture artists are welcome to join and will be encouraged, critiqued and helped down the road.
But wait, why did you guys need a special forum for texture art? What about the many 3D modeling forums that already have texturing sections?
The justification is simple. It wasn't enough. Often, the section was not only merged with the modeling section itself (for example, Game-Artist.com's Modeling & Texturing forum), but the tutorials section is often limited (I was only able to find one great character art tutorial on Game-Artist). What's special about this forum is that it is dedicated to the creation of texture art. Sure, most texture artists move onto 3D, but that's not our focus. Modeling and Texturing are worlds apart, and are definitely two different forms of art. Limited support for UV mapping will be allowed, but we don't plan to answer questions about modeling. We'll likely redirect you to a more applicable location.
Don't feel like registering on a new forum? That's alright! You're welcome to join the sister community here on ModDB.com, the Texture Artist Guild! All texture artists are welcome to both communities, from novice to pro, young and old. You don't have to be the senior artist on a well received release, just a desire to learn and a program to do it with.
Only registered members can share their thoughts. So come on! Join the Mod DB community today (totally free) and do things you never thought possible.

I would, but I neither have the time nor the HL2. The Mac disease strikes.
On another note, would there be interest in a Texture Artist's forum? Tutorials, resources, c&c... the whole bit. Maybe even awards and such. I checked Google and texture artist forums just don't exist. Plenty of 3D forums to go around, and no doubt that graphic art is a popular subject, but creating maps for models is such a delicate art, and is pretty deserving of a forum. If someone else doesn't start it, I will. :)
thanks anyway, I know what you mean...
I can texture, but I'd rather have quality textures made for my models, lol
but please, if anyone can come forward for this role, I would be really grateful
We are currently searching for a texture artist for our mod, please PM me, send an email to bpdevteam@gmail.com or download the application from our website at www.breakingpointmod.com.
We do require a texture artist desperately, so if you think you can help, please respond.
We should start advertising this group. I'm sure we're not the only 8 texture artists on ModDB. Anyway, here's some material of mine:
