I prefer the F22's shape to the F35's... That F22 was awesome in C&C Generals !

Of course it does.. I hope they still add the King Raptor from General Granger's Arsenal.. btw Is it true that the F35 now has VTOL? As I read on some of Tom Clancy's books, the F35 Lightning has VTOL capabilities?

The Lightning is also kbnown as the F35B variant.
The A variant is the multirole fighter-interceptor, the C is the Carrier based fighter and the B is a STOVL, for Short Take Off and Vertical Landing as it cannot really take off the ground with its vectorial exhausts.

The real Vertical Take Off system is a much more rare as it takes a lot of power to take off like a Starwars fighter craft ! And plus, it diminishes the aircraft general peformances by approximately 20-30% in top speed and fuel capacity...

The British have a lot of STOVL and VTOL craft as their aircraft carriers are small and cannot carry a steam catapult (they are called STOBAR carriers) as American and French carrier do (they are called CATOBAR carrier), the Harrier fighter for example or the F18-Super Hornet, the last has its normal engine exhausts orientable, it is the only plane that does not loose too much performance with that system unlike the others...

Russian fighters also have orientable exhausts, but for manoverability, thus helping the plane's ailerons to make the aircraft perform extreme manovers !

As a precision, the Herrier has four little thrust vectorial exhausts, two on each side of the fuselage that allows the craft to take off by itself even with no air strip as the four vector thrust is much more balanced than a reorientated rear thrust only.

To add an answer to your question, the British only purhased the F35B variant to replace their old Harriers.

Did you go on a rant about the F-35 when the original comment was about a different plane?

are you that desperate?

Ha ! I can understand what you mean, I was just trying to anwser his question politely and accurately. Doens't mean that the officials' choices about that plane were actually good. I happened long ago to other nations to keep a bad concept war machine and build it massively with no logical reason at all, just like a dogmatic thing that always hie an economic crisis. In the beginning of 20th Century, we French liked to keep old coal powered warships depsite other countries were going fuel power for their ships. They invocked a stuypid pride thing whereas it was only because of the cost. Coal was costing 30 francs unlike fuel costing about 90. That is why we kept building obsolete warships for a long time. It is the same in many ages about military. USA have nowadays an economical interest to build the flawded F35, to ask for their allies' money to prevent them to fund their own military programs... Just to keep military supremacy in a more and more anti-american world.

I just did a little research, I am not a F35 fan !
I now see that the guys who designed Empire Earth 1 did well in implementing the A10 in the Numerical Era featuring the 21st Century. It still is fkying nowadays and keeps looking good even with its old fashioned straight wings !
